I love my Mk5 GTI. This is the only Matchbox/Hot Wheels style version I could find in black so I bought it to keep on my desk at work. I can't speak for other similar versions or brands (there seem to be several, e.g. Matchbox 2009 Volkswagen Golf V GTI # 30, Purple, Metro Rides, 1:64 Scale.), but, unfortunately, there are a few minor details that make this one less than perfect:
1. The red grille stripe is faint; 2. the wheels aren't the signature Hufeisens; 3. there's no GTI badge on the grille or the boot (it has front & rear Euro plates that read "GOLF GTI"); and 4. the sunroof's metal instead of glass. Also, in case you're interested, while this item's description says 1:64 scale, the car itself says 1:59. |
