4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but pricey
It is a fun toy. I bought it for my three year old boy. However, the track seperates a lot at the down curve and the radio does not project as well as I would have expected even with brand new batteries. I think the box makes the crashes look far more exciting than it is...in fact getting the cars to crash can be difficult since you can't line the cars up through the top...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Durable at all!!
I bought this for my nephew last christmas. It went together easy enough, but it came apart after every car went down the track. He got a kick out of the speaker device(that lasted a week before it broke). He also got a kick out of having the cars land in the cel at the end of the ramp. I gues it would be fun if it actually stayed together longer than thirty seconds.

I think the box makes the crashes look far more exciting than it is...in fact getting the cars to crash can be difficult since you can't line the cars up through the top as it only fits one car at a time. I think if it was priced [lower] it would have been more appropriate.

My son loves this toy. But he is always asking me to fix the track because it has come apart again. He uses the radio more than the track, which I think made the whole thing worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Radio is the Best Part, November 14, 2002

This set is less sturdy than the Matchbox Construction set, but more sturdy than just about any Hotwheels set. They key to this one is the removable radio (i.e. megaphone) that clips to their belts. That got removed from the set a LONG time ago and is played with about 5x as often.

These Matchbox sets would be better if you could hook them all together. It almost looks like you should be able to, but the openings vary in size between the fire set, police set, construction set and this one. Why not make them so you can hook them right up together? I'd give it an extra star if it did that.

My son, who will be four in May, kept asking for this playset for almost six months straight. He only saw one advertisment on the television but remembered it every single day. He loves it! He's learned the importance of helping others when they are hurt, when to be serious and when to have fun, that stealing is very bad and that jail is not a fun place to go. In a preschooler's mind, these are very heavy topics. This is a time when they have a very hard time being able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. This toy is a good visual aid to helping children use their imagination to create wonderful ideas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better constructed than I expected, December 16, 2002

After 4 or 5 past bad experiences with Matchbox and Hot Wheels play sets (parts breaking off within the first 10 minutes of play, track that never stays together, etc.), I vowed never to buy another one. But, of course, my 4-year-old son really wanted this for Christmas along with Matchbox Emergency Car Wash. I have to say that it went together easily and has stayed together. He enjoys playing with it by making up bank-robber stories, and my 2 year old likes using the walkie talkie radio. Now if only they shipped with the stickers already attached to the toy :-)

My 4 yr old son wanted this toy so bad for his birthday that I did everything I could to make sure he got it, now I wish I'd found something else. He plays with it but it falls apart to easy. The track does not stay together at all and the radio quit working only after a couple of months. For a child that likes to play rough I do not reccomend. It was fun for the 1st day then after that it now collects dust.
