5.0 out of 5 stars best video ever!, January 10, 2001
This review is from: Matchbox Twenty - Live from Australia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Matchbox Twenty Live in Australia is the best video ever! It brings out all the guy's personalities and has interviews with the entire band. It also has concert footage and music videos for Push, Back 2 good, real world, and long day. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan, or just looking for some laughs, this is one of the most amusing things i've ever seen. The concert footage includes a few songs that were not released in the US, as well as strictly concert preformances. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Generation Matchbox Twenty, January 18, 2004
By
"plato72" (Eastman, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Matchbox Twenty - Live from Australia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a must have for anyone who caught the Matchbox Twenty disease. Everyone's heard their music at some point and said "ya that's how I'm feeling". Well here's a video of the guys who knew you so well. Live in Australia give you a glimpse of the personalities of Matchbox Twenty with backstage clips and on the road snapshots. Their live performance bleeds through you when you hear all your favorite songs from Yourself or Someone Like You with added lyric by Rob's anguished soul. You also get to hear great covers of Cyndi Lauper (Time After Time) and The Beatles (Don't Let Me Down). Matchbox also performs their pleading You and I and I. And when you thought it was over, their classic videos, you can't ever catch on MTV, are on there, including the hard to view Rob in a tie, Long Day video. So if you're a generation Matchbox Twentyer, "Keep your distance from me, don't pay no attention to me" and buy this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome video for any MB20 fan!, September 27, 2000

This review is from: Matchbox Twenty - Live from Australia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video captures Matchbox 20 at their best. Not only does it have great concert footage, but it also has funny behind-the-scenes stuff. And, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are five videos after the concert...videos for "Push," "3am," "Real World," "Back 2 Good," and "Long Day."

If you love MB20, you'll love this video!

5.0 out of 5 stars My ideal gift..., August 5, 1999

This must have video shows just how far a band can go in a short time. The beautifully lit show allows fans to truly experience what Matchbox20 is all about. The collection of videos at the end, the backstage footage and general clowning around make this the perfect gift for anyone who liked the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey! Where's the DVD???, May 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Matchbox Twenty - Live from Australia [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is a very entertaining 90 minutes of excellent music, short interviews, and backstage footage. MB20 is a crazy bunch of guys; their antics, mock accents, and quips are funny even if you're not a big fan of their music already. The lighthearted footage makes a nice juxtaposition with the passionate performances of their songs from YOSLY (plus a few extras).

The camera work for the multiple concert footage of "Busted" was one of the highlights for me (you can tell it's more than one concert because Rob's outfit changes) as it made the song even more intense and jarring than a "straight" version. It's a great "front row" live concert experience (I've been to a concert here in the US, and I got nose bleed seats. The sound and experience was great, but they looked like ants.) Anyway, this video is worth watching just for the covers alone: I really enjoyed "Don't Let Me Down", featuring Kyle on vocals, and I wish I could have "Time After Time" on CD!

The conversation about the Rolling Stones during the end credits was very funny, but in a way also helps to keep you grounded -- when you're a young female and really like a band, you can start to idolize the members. Yet here and throughout the video they're shown as regular guys, rather than being glamorized as rock gods or something creepy like that. That's one of best parts about this video and this band: they're you're average, silly, musical geniuses. ;-)

The music videos are a big plus. But Rob and his eyeliner.... Maybe I should take back the comment about him being down to earth? Ha. However, I have to say it, the "Long Day" video is kind of stupid. It makes no sense, and you see the actors more than you see Rob or the band. Rob's haircut is also awful. "Push" and "Real World" are my favorites of the set.

But here's the Big Gripe: Why isn't this on DVD? Hello? I have not bought the video -- I've watched a library copy. My VCR is a piece of junk, and can't handle rewinding and fastforwarding around a video, so I can't jump to the music videos, or a favorite part of the concert, etc. VHS also just isn't as a good a format in general, and I can't see myself watching any video a few years from now. I'd like a DVD of this with scene selection -- that I would definitely buy. However, if you can't get a ahold of this via a friend or rental, it's definitely worth buying in case it never makes it to DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, May 12, 2004

I received this as a Christmas gift in 1999 and I loved it. I was so happy to finally have a video I could watch whenever I wanted. I loved their version of "Time After Time." It was the best remake I have ever heard. I really loved the videos at the end, which I play over and over!! The funniest part to me was when Rob talked about his dirty mouth and how he curses alot. That was funny. The music was great and so were the behind the scene extras. I also loved the end when the credits were rolling and they start talking about opening for the Rolling Stones. Rob's accent is hilarious. If you love MB20 you should have this video.

Not only one of the best videos but one of the best concerts I have ever seen, this video shows the guys at there best with this classic collection of Matchbox 20 hits... the only beef I have is, whens the dvd version of this video going to be released?
But all is good, this video brings back so many memories from when the guys toured here (Australia) for the first time and since then I have been back to see them for there "mad season" and most recently there "more thean you think you are" tours... thanks again guys!

The performances are unbelievable! The behind scenes show what they like to do on the road also things you've probably never known about the group. If you like matchbox 20 this video will make you love them and if you love them it's going to make you love them even more. I love it and recommend it to anyone!
