Editorial Reviews

This book was written for women. It is not a guide for desperate mothers, but a resting place on the road where we can think about ourselves as mothers raising children with our sunny side and our shadow side, emerging and expanding from our internal volcanoes. Many hidden aspects of our feminine psyche are exposed and activated with the arrival of our children. These are revealing moments of mystical experience, if we are able to experience them as such, and if we find the support to confront them. It is an opportunity to look at the pre-conceived ideas, the prejudices, and authoritarian attitudes imbedded in our opinions about maternity, child-rearing, education, family relationships, and communication between children and adults. In these pages we will find words to name the indefinable: the altered states of consciousness after birth, the emotional fields we enter with our babies, the unavoidable insanity, and that feeling of not recognizing ourselves any longer. I invite you to step with me on this road, with the freedom to take only what is helpful or supportive. I hope this book will contribute to generate more questions, create more spaces for the sincere exchange among women, and facilitate encounters, communication, and solidarity. Laura Gutman

This book has explained so many things for me and my husband, it would be a loong list if I wrote down everything.. We understood things about our child's behavior and how to help him; understood my process and the wonderful possibilities that a child's birth brings to us women; my husband and I calmed down about many things that seamed "not too right", etc., etc.

Any new or experienced mother and father, together with their family and friends who are willing to help them with their babies! will benefit from this book if they are ready to do their best for themselves and babies.

Its a smooth read too, which I think helps tremendously to new moms who need easily digestible info.

The approach and ideas of the book are really worth reading, I'd advise it to anyone embracing the adventure of raising kids, it's an eye, heart and mind opening book. Unfortunatelly I'm disappointed with this English edition, I don't know if the Spanish version is like this but this book needs further editing. Core ideas are great, the language is simple so as to be easy readable but ideas are repeated or it just jumps from from thing to another, going against the flow of the reading... and this is a real pity.

Excellent book that at the end I managed to buy in another language. Really recommend to read it! The best book I've ever read about maternity. Unfortunately this book translated in English was never delivered. Trying to understand how to get reimbursement from Amazon.
