Editorial Reviews

Review

"I have never seen anything even close to this level of breadth. It’s a very thorough and comprehensive source book for mathematical ideas, terminology, definitions, and examples. Math Dictionary with Solutions, 2nd would be an excellent reference book for instructors of basic mathematics and statistics as well as for non-math majors taking required math and statistics courses."

(Paul R. Swank )

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away!, August 14, 2005
This review is from: Math Dictionary With Solutions: A Math Review (Paperback)
This book is exactly what I've been looking for! If you want the bottom line read the last paragragh.

I am a college student who recently changed my major from music to mathematics and needed a book to define, review and explain math in english. I also needed examples on how to use formulas ect...

This book does it all!

I do not give out 5 stars lightly and I am amazed that more people have not given this book a great review. Here are the reasons I love it so much.

1. It gives consise definitions of words and symbols from addition to calculus.

2. After the definition it gives you explanations of how to perform the operation defined EXACTLY THE WAY YOU WILL SEE QUESTIONS IN TEXTBOOKS AND ON TESTS!

3. It is the only dictionary or solution guide that I have seen that is not either for children or advanced mathematians, It's just right for anyone from highschool up to 1st term calculus in college.

4. The definitions are in english not math "symboleeze". If you have ever read a dictionary or textbook that gives definitions in symbols that it never explains exept in the middle of some long proof that you will probably never read; then you know what I mean.

5. If a term like "inverse multiplicative" is defined elsewhere as "multiplicative inverse" it tells you so.

In short, it is easy to understand while giving all the info for some one who wants to learn anything from adding to calculus step by step or someone needing brief explanations of math topics in english(I'm buying one for my professor). And the print size is perfect for someone who doesn't like having to read math with a magnifying glass. GET THIS BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, October 15, 2008
This review is from: Math Dictionary With Solutions: A Math Review (Paperback)
Mr. Kornegay was my High School Math teacher and he helped me gain a great understanding of algebra, geometry, and calculus. By far, a great teacher, mentor, and overall person. Back to the book, this thing is GREAT! His way of explaining how everything works is ingenious. My daughter is now using it for her math homework in Middle School, and she loves it for how clear and consise the explanations are. Thank you Mr. Kornegay for writing this book!
