5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, December 6, 1999

This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
This has to be one of the best mathematical reference books published today. It covers a wide range of topics from number theory, algebra, geometry, fractions, probability, statistics, ratios, etc. in a simple, highly illustrated, and easily referenced index to almost any math problem encountered by elementary to high school. Highly recommend you keep a copy at home for children's homework help and one at the office for reference. It's that good. Wish Amazon would place a few illustrations from the book on-line to enable prospective buyers a chnace yo see how well the authors present this material. Should be on anyone with children's MUST HAVE list.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "MUST HAVE" for every student and parent, September 4, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
WOW! I am not under 13, just a Middle School Math teacher who does not like publishing email addresses over the net. This book is great. The agony many parents go through trying to make sense of the way traditional text books explain (or fail to explain) mathematical concepts can now be eased. The book is written in plain language and covers every imaginable topic that a Middle School student would cover in their math class. Students and parents both will be able to look up the needed topic (topics are neatly indexed and grouped appropriately) and bring much needed clarity to the sometimes vague notes taken by the student in class and perhaps refresh the students memory as to what the teacher presented in class. I wish every student had one of these books. I recommend it strongly to all of my students. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful resource!!!, February 11, 2001
This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
As a sixth grade math teacher, this is the first book I recommend to my students. MATH ON CALL shows step by step processes for every operation and explains complex ideas, such as division by fractions and multiplication with decimals, in a conceptual manner. This book is a must-have for every student, ages 8-18!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best darn math reference book ever, February 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
My son's 7th grade math teacher recommended this. I don't know what we would have done without it. The school's math textbook was useless. If there was any problem not understanding a math concept, we would just whip this baby out and it was easy to understand. Math homework couldn't have been any less frustrating.

My younger son now takes it with him to school for doing his math work at school. It is invaluable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Math On Call - An Invaluable Tool, May 19, 2001
This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
My child's middle school made this book available a couple of years ago. It has proven to be an invaluable resource for middle school and high school math. It provides examples and explanations for almost any middle/high school math problem. It contains more-easily-understood examples than the text books. It's been an invaluable tool for me as a parent.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource, November 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Math on Call: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
This book was originally suggested by my daughter's 7th
grade math teacher. It's a great homework helper for 6th - 9th grade levels. Organized so your kids (or you, if you help them with their homework!)can easily look up specific questions that relate to what they're working on at the moment. Now my younger child is in 7th grade and it's getting a workout again. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must in every home, September 13, 2002
By

This is a great book that covers a wide range of Middle School subjects. My kids like me to use this wonderfull book because it gives examples used by their teachers at schools. I believe that there is nothing wrong with teaching kids different ways to solve a problem, but I start with this book and most of the time they tell me that the examples in the book are exactly the way how the teacher explained the problem in class. This way they don't get confuse between my way, my wife's way, and the teacher's way.
My kids are not afraid anymore to go upfront and show the class how simple math can be.

THIS IS A GREAT BOOK WITH SIMPLE EASY TO FOLLOW EXAMPLES!

S.A.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Parent, Teacher and Student resource, December 4, 1999
As a middle school math teacher, I frequently have parents tell me, "It has been so long since I took math, I just need a resource to help remember how to do these things". (ie fractions) I tell them to order this book. The examples are clear and well illustrated. The book is colorful and engaging. Our school has bought class sets of this book and we are going to organize a bulk order of books for parents. I think the topics covered would help students in grades 3-10.
