2.0 out of 5 stars I want my money back
My son finished the first grade book within two months, and he wanted to do more math homework. So I bought this book and third grade book for him. To my surprise, I found that about 1/3 of the material are copies from the 1st grader book, and another 1/3 of pages are copies from the 3rd grader book. We both were very disappointed. (...)

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality book with repeating contents, September 20, 2004
This review is from: Math Made Easy: Second Grade Workbook (Math Made Easy) (Paperback)
A high quality workbook like many others from DK. It organizes grade 2 math in 156 topics and gives drills on each of them. Very comprehensive. Star stickers are given for rewarding good work. Most sheets practice adding and subtracting facts. They are solid but a bit repeating.

If you want your child to be good at math, you should additionally find some fun math programs. My friend referred me to a Houston community web site http://www.beestar.org. It provides math exercises every week with rankings to keep kids interested. In the past my son only played games on the Internet. Now he solves math problems online every week. I love it.

My daughter is ahead of her class and needed to be challenged, by page 7 we found this book definitely a useful learning tool. It does NOT review 1st grade. I find it frustrating to purchase an age level book and have half of it be just stuff they have already covered. This IS NOT the case. Would definitely be a great book for home schooled children and look forward to purchasing the next levels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Math Made Easy:Second Grade, December 3, 2007
This review is from: Math Made Easy: Second Grade Workbook (Math Made Easy) (Paperback)
Good practices, BUT pages are not pencil-friendly (meaning you can't see the writing, but just an indent). Therefore, my child has had to write everything in pen, which isn't a good thing when you're "practicing".

3.0 out of 5 stars Math Made Easy: 2nd Grade, October 3, 2005

This workbook would be perfect and complete simply by adding a paragraph of how to explain the exercises.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overall, very good, December 15, 2009

At first I liked this, but after a few weeks, I found it very disappointing. It doesn't tell me how to teach things, the paper is horrible, and the sequence of skills is odd. I'll probably use it as busywork if I need it (we homeschool), but I won't order another book from this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars good math review book, August 12, 2003
By A Customer

I used this book to review second grade over the summer after finding my daughter had large gaps in her math education. My daughter loved placing the stars included in the workbookon each completed page. The math problem pages kept her interested because of how the problems were related to one another. For instance, on one line there were several ways of getting to the number 7 imbedded in two digit calculations. The book covers the major areas of math education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Books!, February 8, 2011

I ordered the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade books for my kids. They are wonderful! They work on a wide variety of skills. Only downside is they aren't great for teaching, but are really good for practice and reinforcement of skills. Would be great for a summer bridge from one grade to the next to keep the kiddos in practice, or get them ready for the next year. Only thing I wish (and I'm being picky here) is that the pages were perforated, so I could tear them out and not have to give the kids the whole book to work in. Really not a big deal, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent supplemental workook, August 5, 2008

This is a great summer workbook to keep kids fresh on their math skills or to introduce concepts for the upcoming year so they are familiar with what to expect. I don't have a problem with the arrangement/order of the topics. For my son, taking a break from word problems (which can be a struggle) to do time/clock or geometry problems is great because it boosts his confidence and enthusiasm. There is lots of practice, and each topic spirals back with higher-level concepts while strengthening the foundation--for example, adding one-digit numbers, then two-digit numbers, and then three- and two-digit numbers. Again, this is a good supplemental resource for enhancing your child's math skills.
