From School Library Journal
Grade 3-6-- This book provides wonderful ways to entice children into using math creatively. Each of the 21 tricks is presented in three sections: "The Trick," "How to Do It," and "The Math-A-Magic Secret" of why the trick works. Clear diagrams are included, as well as humorous red and charcoal illustrations. The showmanship and production of the trick as magic is stressed, with the math in the background as the key to making the tricks work. Level of skill required and the complexity of the tricks vary, but most are within the grasp of upper-elementary students who have a basic understanding of numbers. Fans of the authors' Razzle Dazzle! Magic Tricks for You (Albert Whitman, 1987) will welcome this new set of magic tricks; teachers may find that a trick or two from this collection will spice up lessons. --Nancy A.
