This review is from: Math-O: Games for Middle-Grade Math & Algebra Classes, Grades 5-8+ (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. While geared for middle school, it is easily adapted to the high school classroom. While there is plenty of arithmetic and prealgebra for 5th through 8th grade, there is quite a bit useful for the Algebra I and Geometry student. Besides, what high school student can't use a good arithmetic review? My students (10th grade) LOVED playing Best Buy Burger Barn. They were engaged the entire time we played (about half an hour). I put prices on the board, per the directions, and the students had to compute different orders, make change, and find price differences. I am looking forward to the higher level games (exponents, multiplying binomials), found in this book, as are the kids. Mrs. Hazell gathered together a great review, in a very clever format. If you are a middle school or high school Math teacher, look no further. The price is great and the problems genuinely help the students review arithemetic, prealgebra, and Algebra. |
