No problems with Math and Other Problems..., October 9, 2005
This review is from: Math & Other Problems (Audio CD)
If you're a fan of Butch and/or Marv 3, this album is DEFINITELY worth checking out. If not, you should start wtih Butch's solo "Left of Self-Centered" or Marvelous 3 "ReadySexGo". The songs are catchy from start to finish and the musicianship is solid. The production is a little more raw than other albums, but you have to remember, this one is on an indie label. Stand outs are "The Last Sleep", "Pizza and Wine", "Valium" and "Katrina", the last being a hysterical song about Butch being stalked by a lesbian. Everything else is VERY listenable, and you'll find yourself bopping along, like most of Butch's songs are apt to make you do. This CD easily makes it into the top 5 CD's that are "likely to be played in the car"...and the other 4 are the other 2 Marv 3 and Butch's 2 solo CD's.

No Words Can Describe, July 9, 2005
This review is from: Math & Other Problems (Audio CD)
As a new Butch Walker fan, I set out to find some of his work. Easily, I found Ready Sex Go, Hey!Album, and Left of Self-Centered, but Math and Other Problems (being out of print) is the most elusive CD. I must say that for all the months that I spent searching for it were made entirely worth it when I popped it into the CD player. (I had caved and gone to Ebay.) Butch did not let me down with this. His voice was amazing (as usual), showing off his ability to MOVE his voice to different sounds and tones. I speak of the sometimes Elvis-esque sounds. I usually don't leave reviews, but I know I must say that it's worth every penny and every hour you spend searching for it.
I love them all, but these tracks stand out:
Appetite
The Last Sleep
Valium
Make-Up
In the Beginning of Relationships
Katrina

This CD is a must to have in any Marvie fan's CD collection. They did an awesome job recording it, and I'd say that Pizza and Wine is the best song. Buy this while you can!!!! Butch's voice is hyptnotizing...

Math and Other Problems sealed my love for the Marvies. How could you not want to listen to songs like Katrina and Make-up over and over. For their first cd, it has a very good sound and the lyrics are provocative. Five stars aren't enough!

Great Album for Anyone Interested in Early Butch Walker, May 1, 2009
This review is from: Math & Other Problems (Audio CD)
This is a great first album for any band. The songs have a sense of energy that most bands can't conjure and the songwriting is smart and quick. For the most part, looking back from even READYSEXGO! you can see how much Marvelous 3/Butch Walker has changed and evolved. A timeless album and a must for anyone who loves Butch.
