About the Author

Dave Sobecki was born and raised in Cleveland, and started college at Bowling Green State University in 1984 majoring in creative writing. Eleven years later, he walked across the graduation stage to receive a PhD in math, a strange journey indeed. After two years at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, he came home to Ohio, accepting a tenure-track job at the Hamilton campus of Miami University. Dave has won a number of teaching awards in his career, and more recently has turned his attention to writing textbooks. Dave is in a happy place where his love of teaching meshes perfectly with his childhood dream of writing. He lives in Fairfield, Ohio with his lovely wife Cat, and fuzzy dogs Macleod and Tessa. When not teaching or writing, Dave's passions include Ohio State football, Cleveland Indians baseball, heavy metal music, travel, golf, and home improvement.

I'm so excited to use my new book!

It was basically impossible to check your answers to your homework because how could I tell if i did the problem wrong or if the book was making another mistake.

I would recommend MathZone as a companion to this book.

I found a 'used' version of this hard cover book. It was in excellent condition and the seller got it to me very quickly (took the time to USPS the item on a SAT).

I have access to free books at my university on line, however I really prefer to flip through the book. My school has access to MathZone so I did not need media or access code from this publication. It was a perfect fit.

Text is clear and there are some great example. I would recommend MathZone as a companion to this book.

Wasn't a huge fan of the price due to being on a college student budget. However; the book is good for my class and the seller shipped it fast. I may end up selling it to get money back (I need money!!!)

I liked this text book for a math one (I hate math). They tried hard to relate it to the younger students out there, but that's cool I guess. I do like hardcover text books too.
