5.0 out of 5 stars Tied For First
Here we find Weber State's Dr. Charlesworth showing us again how to put together a fine student-friendly textbook (What else really works?)

So, so, so many pictures and graphics to interact with in this book!!! Sperry Smith's math early childhood book may do the same at a smaller price, but this book out does everyone else in terms of "showing AND telling"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tai Smallwood Review
Great book for referencing activities to engage young learners in their discovery of mathematics. As the Community Liason for an Exceptional After School Math Enrichment program, I am happy to encourage parents to read more to learn more about the many ways children can learn math.

The best part about this book is how it chooses to see science and math as inseparable concepts. I love that idea because children will eventually see this connection when they get to middle and high school math, science, biology, physics, and chemistry classes. Why not start the connecting process during the early childhood years?

If you can swallow the near $100 price, this book will do well...otherwise your safe with Sperry Smith's more economical text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource, September 28, 2008

First, let me say that I am NOT a math person. Because of this, I was a little anxious about getting a book that would be easy for me to understand so that I could bring enriching and understandable math and science experiences to the children in my classroom. This book is very reader friendly and the activities are fun and great. I 100% recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Math & Science for Young Childre, March 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this book for a college class I was taking in Early Childhood Education. It's easy to read, and shares a lot of vital information for the teaching of Math and Science to young children. I was excited about purchasing the book through amazon.com. I saved %20 of the cost I would have paid if I'd purchased the book through the college bookstore. Math & Science for Young Children offers many wonderful ideas for creative learning. Over all, it's a wonderful Early Childhood Education resource.CHI Silk Infusion - 6 oz.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle PC Version, September 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I rented the Kindle PC version of this book. I am in a 5 week class and thought it would save me some money. I cannot complete the first assignment because there are blocks of text or figures blocked out due to copyright restrictions. Had I know this I would not have made this purchase. NOW I have to spend more money and get an actual text book. I will not purchase or rent then kindle version of a book again. Very disappointed!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Activities, August 15, 2006
This book has pretty good math activities. I like the way the books chapters are divided different types of math, i.e. sorting, place value, etc.
