A commendable effort, but...,

First off, if you want a very helpful supplement to your study
of algebra, then you should consider buying this DVD. If you stick with it, this video will prove to be a big help at a bargain price. One of the reasons I bought this product was to see how someone could cram ten hours of content into a DVD at such a low price. I opened the case expecting to see a double sided disc, but lo and behold, the entire course is on one side! To achieve this, the video had to be drastically compressed, so the image has a lot of pixel swimming. The audio is clear enough to understand, but there is a buzz sound on most of the clips. In this day and age, the low video quality may turn off a large portion of the potential audience. I would have gladly paid more for a dual-disc set or double sided disc with improved specs. My second quibble concerns the use of a dry-erase marker board. Watching the "talking hand" do its thing is O.K., but a lot of time is spent watching the board being erased. I would suggest using an electronic tablet or filming the problems being done onscreen in an appropriate computer application. Again, this would boost the cost of the DVD, but it would be worth it. It seems that much of the verbal presentation is off the cuff and could have used more forethought - there is a least one segment that is ended mid-sentence (there is even a humorous spot where the presenter stops the lesson to answer a ringing telephone). There are points where the tutor makes an error and catches himself, there are also a couple spots where errors slip through. Nobody's perfect, but a bit more pre- planning and post-production polish would have helped. Still, I'd buy this product again as-is, and if the author made similar videos on other math topics with the same amount of content at the same price, I'd get them, even if they were done in the same fashion as this one.

I love Math Video Tutor; I always had trouble understanding certain aspects of math especially fractions. However, after watching this video I now understand math better than all the math classes I have taken in the past. When I am finish watching this video I am going to give it to my daughter who is also has trouble with math. This video shows how to do it rather than give a long, boring explanation. I have already order the next two videos; that is how much I enjoy it. I HIGHLY recommend this video to anyone having trouble with math; it is worth it.
