Cool Math Activities For Hard to Find Topics,
By A Customer
This review is from: Math Wizardry for Kids (Paperback)
I found activities for many hard to find topics included in Math Wizardry. As a teacher I am always on the move searching for applicable, simply put, and interesting activities to use in the classroom. That is not always easy to do. I recommend this text because it gives directions and a pictorial review of the activities along with a simple explanation and benefits of the activity. I recommend it highly to parents and educators alike. This book is a great resource that can easily be used to enhance any math classroom or home study.

Let me just say that I had this set as a child, and am now a math major. It definitely sparked my interest, and taught me a great deal about different sides of mathematics that I didn't hear about in school.
Definitely recommend it for the advanced or curious kid.

Just keep in mind that this is a smaller book, not a book that you can copy pages with activities for students to use.

This book is great! I got it for my 9 year old who loves math. He is def a "math person," and this book is great for him. But, this book would be also be great for math-phobes or reluctant math students. This book moves beyond rote memorization or skills and into actual concepts, problem solving, and creative thinking. There is a lot of geometry. There is also a lot of art integration. I think that math-phobes would actually be tricked into thinking these activities were not math, and therefore enjoy and learn. Great addition to any library. I would recommend for ages 7 and up, but there are activities that teens and adults will enjoy. I bought the 1st addition because it had more pages.

This is a wonderful book that makes a sometimes-dull subject come alive with creativity. My 10 year old couldn't contain himself and started making isosceles triangle birds IMMEDIATELY! (One of the activities) I am very pleased.
