5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference and resource for teachers!, May 29, 2001
This review is from: Math at Hand: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
A sales rep gave me a copy of this book at a summer teacher workshop last year and I will not give this book up for anything! It has been a very valuable and useful tool for me to reference on countless occasions this past school year. The book has great illustrations, tables and an almanac. The charts are colorful and easy to read. I highly recommend this book for any teacher in the intermediate grades. It will not only help you keep your lessons fresh and make your planning time easier, it will also enable you to be an "expert" in mathematics in just a quick glance.

This resource is a must have for any teacher or parent of students 4th grade and above. It takes abstract and basic math concepts and breaks them down into simpler steps for a clearer understanding. It makes a great companion to the resource "Math At Hand".

5.0 out of 5 stars EVERY PARENT'S HOMEWORK HELPER!, July 30, 2009
I found this book in a math for teachers class & immediately bought it for my 2 sisters to be able to help their kids with math homework. It makes concepts so easy and down-to-earth! I can't wait to use it in my own classroom someday soon. Schools should be giving these out to parents so that they can make homework time more efffective. A MUST for k-8 parents!

This book was recommended by my son's teacher as an extra study guide. I'm very happy with the book, he is able to review what was done in class on a daily basis. This is an excellent study/review source.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource Book!, December 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an awesome math resource book for all ages. I highly recommend this book to any teacher, parent or child. The book is not a text, nor does it have practice worksheet (that is in the resource guide teachers addition.) The book is very user friendly. Great pictures, illistrations, and definitions. It is a great quick reference item.

I am a student teacher and found I couldn't remember the difference between a line, line segment, or a line ray? The book references all of these on a single page, gives difinition of the word and gives an example. My 3rd grade daughter uses this book. I give it to my friends that hate math, but still need to help their kids with their homework. They found it very handy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good reference book, November 4, 2008

This review is from: Math at Hand: A Mathematics Handbook (Paperback)
This is one of the best math reference books I have purchased. It's color coded, thus easy for children to find their subject. The descriptions are supported with drawings and pictures. Everything is nicely organized. I particularly love the tables and glossary of math formulas at the end!
We own also Math to Know and Math on Call which are from the same series for a different age group. I highly recommend all of them for students and parents alike.
