Program is pretty cool, but I think classes that make you pay to access your homework are lame considering college is already outrageously expensive.

MathXL was optional for my College Algebra class. I didn't realize this until after I'd purchased it, and I was disappointed that I'd bought something for over $40 that I couldn't return (you can't return it once the seal is broken). But, after using it for my first set of homework, it came in handy. It walked me through difficult problems, showed examples of the same type of problem, and basically, holds your hand through the whole process. Compared to working problems out of the book, and turning in homework that may or may not be correct (with MathXL, you know if your answers are right or wrong after doing the problem), I can see how it is going to make a huge difference in getting a good grade versus just a passing grade.

First things First, this is an access code, so buying one "used" is a huge risk... They can only be used once. I personally bought my code Directly from Amazon, (not a 3rd party Seller) And it worked first time no issues and came in a sealed package.

This provides 12 months of MathXL access, On the providers website 6 months of access costs about $10 more than the sold by Amazon Price.

This provides access to the MathXL website, I'm not a fan but just about every college math class I have taken requires access to this site. I won't review the site here, since it's not a site that you use just because, it is a site for required coursework.

The price for what you get is better on Amazon than from the provider or buying a new book with the code.

I did minus 1 star for the vague product description. It should specifically state it is a physical code and you need to be wary of buying this item used...

Just my thoughts,
MG

Like most college students who take math class now, MathXL is becoming more and more of a required material for class. It provide you with an e-book and you complete homework, quizzes and tests all online. Homework is great, you can keep trying a question until you get it right and even go directly to the page in the e-book that explains how to solve it. Don't expect anything great when you get this. It's just a cardboard brochure with a pull-tab serial key to enter on the MathXL website.

The kit was unopened, but my code was expired when I went to register for MathXL. There's no expiration date on the package, so I had no way of knowing this before I broke the seal. Amazon looks to be processing my return with no trouble (as usual), but I still don't know why a brand new access code would ever be expired.

The whole series is just a way for teachers to avoid dealing with homework and tests. Every assignment takes much too long to complete because of the lack of human input. Teachers seem to be rushing into this because they never have to look at a paper. Must be nice for them, but I see this as a major scam.

The price on Amazon is better than through the manufacturer, but why should something that is useless after one semester and is not transferable to someone else be almost a $100? At least you can keep a book. I suspect that this new business model will become fully entrenched in schools since so much money is to be made by the publishers and so little work is needed by the teachers.

I would be happy with an interactive math program that was responsibly prices and didn't put so much extra burden on the students. This is the opposite.

I bought this for my math 125 class. At first, I was a bit skeptical about purchasing it online, but it turned out fine. The only thing that is shipped is the code for your subscription. However, if you miss a class, Math XL does provide examples to help you understand what you missed. That is a big plus! I can learn from my mistakes online. If you are looking to buy a subscription, don't hesitate in buying this for your class.

Not much to say about purchased text books. Just make sure you are getting the correct edition.

I wish publishers would get away from the game of a new edition a year when there are little or no updates. I would be more likely to purchase my text books in the school book store for a little more money if they would hold down a position and do revisions every 5 years or so. I now wait until after classes start to get them online where they are a little cheaper than the book store.

ended up not using the code last semester and when I tried to use it this semester, I was told the publisher only issues the codes for a small time and they are killed when the new edition of the book comes out. I'm sorry but math at this level just doesn't change that much. Concentrate on a higher quality book that people will hold onto please rather than trying to wipe out the 2nd hand market by constantly releasing a new edition every 6 months. Online codes should be allowed to be active until used.

After all is said and done 2+2 has the same answer today as it had 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure it will be the same 6 monts from now. If it's changed, I will come back and raise my rating / rant

First off: The seller was willing to work with me which is a plus and offer me a 10% refund for my time wasted to get this issue resolved. Would definitely buy from them again for making customer service their number one goal. I also wished that I would of updated them sooner but since my amazon account email is an email I check once a week, I did not.

So I bought this for a class. I received it new and sealed. However when I opened the code up and went to register the code had expired. I contacted pearson by phone. On hold for 30 mins before I got to someone. "There's nothing we can do" So I'm thinking WTH it was brand new! I contacted the seller. They got back with me saying this has happened before WTH and to contact pearson, I already did so and I told them what they told me. My time has been wasted just to save $15 bucks Well I decide to do pearson online chat. PITA. Hour and a half later they fix my code so that it will work.
