This review is from: Indian Vibes - Remixes (Audio CD)
Wow - it's hard to tell who actually recorded the original "Indian Vibes" -- a rock-style raga that has ended up (remixed) on several south-asia-inspired electronica albums, but this CD is a collection of several remixes of JUST THAT ONE tune. And believe, though the tune is stellar, hearing so many versions does get to be too much, if only because most of the remixes aren't remarkable, or even very different from each other. The recording I've heard so far that I really admire isn't on this CD -- it's to be found on "Karma Collection." Listening to this CD was a sad moment for me, because it is an example of how good stuff no longer inspires more good stuff, it just inspires people to lift the original verbatim, play it over and over, and not even try to emulate. Welcome to the age of easy lifting. (The 4 stars is for the original tune, which still rocks!)
