About the Author

Raised in rural Pennsylvania. Graduated from Bloomsburg State University and earned Master's degree in Mathematice from Columbia University, New York City. Taught at Penn State University and the Colorado School of Mines out west in Golden, Colorado. Author is blind and enjoys working mathematics and science problems in his head. Solves cryptograms and crossword puzzles with his wife who is more useful than a guide dog. Friends, a passion for baseball, and a 30-year, Saturday morning coffee group with other retired professors keeps him whistling. Looks forward to becoming an octogenarian in 2000.
