This is a dream book for 3 kinds of people:
Anyone who is (has been) seriously practice(d) the mathematics contest. Any teacher/professer who tried(or is tring) to train students. Anyone who loves the intriguing mathematical problems and know the deep joy of solving problems.
This book contains more then 20 national MO problem-sets in 1998/1999 from around the world, as well as some missalaneous regional contest problems. For 1998's there are full solutions for each problem, while for 1999's there are only problems. It is obviously the next issue will be 1999/2000, with solutions for 1999 and problems for 2000. I hope this series will go on and on.
I must say that this book is never for the young adults but for those who love solving and appreciating mathematics problems.

Format: Paperback
This book contains many interesting problems proposed to various mathematical competitions from USA and other countries during the years 1998 and 1999. The problems cover several elementary fields, including algebra, geometry, number theory and combinatorics. They are carefully selected and the solutions are clear, well structured. In many cases, multiple solutions are provided by the authors. The book is divided into two parts, each corresponding either to the year 1998 or to 1999. Only the year 1998 problems are solved. The inclusion of a glossary which contains all the necessary mathematical notions for solving the problems is extremely important for the accessibility of the book to a wider audience, while the classification of the problems at the end of the book makes the reading of this book a pleasant experience for every reader. This collection of excellent problems and beautiful solutions is a valuable companion for students who wish to develop their interest in mathematics outside the school curriculum and to deepen their knowledge of mathematics. I STRONGLY recommend the book to ALL those wishing to find a delightful collection of elementary problems and solutions. This book might be found in every mathematics library.

This is a great book for problem solving, whether you are a participant, or a trainer (read tutor, but for former participants, we prefer trainer). Anyway, it is a great collection of problems and solutions.

OK! I am about twelve years overdue for math contests, but I enjoyed them way too much, and now, my little brothers are getting to the right age, so, I have bought some literature. This book is part of it, and an important part in that regard.

I just would love it to be a bit cheaper. I mean, it doesn't hurt, for me, a college professor, to spend a Benjamin in three books for math olympiads, but when I was sixteen and participating on contests, I wouldn't have been able to afford it.

This books contains a large collection of competition problems that will help anyone preparing for a competition succeed. Topics vary from geometry, to algebra and number theory and to combinatorics...a jewel for those high school students preparing themselves for a major league competition. A must have for national trainers.
