In the process of doing research on Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace and writing "Ada, The Enchantress of Numbers" I had the good fortune to read this book. It is intelligent, thoughtful, and discusses not only Babbage's mathematical work but gives insight into the process of discovery. It is a gem.
