Book Description

December 24, 2008 1428336567 978-1428336568 6
The new edition of this best-selling text has been reviewed and revised to clarify and update an understanding of mathematical concepts necessary for success in the machine trades and manufacturing fields. Mathematics for Machine Technology, Sixth Edition overcomes the often mechanical "plug in" approach found in many trade-related texts. A complete grasp of mathematical concepts are emphasized in the presentation and application of a wide-range of topics from general arithmetic processes to oblique trigonometry, compound angles, and numerical control. The material covered by this text is accompanied by realistic industry-related examples, illustrations, and actual applications, which progress from the simple to the relatively complex. Mathematics for Machine Technology, Sixth Edition provides readers with practical vocational and technical applications of mathematical concepts necessary to excel in the machine, tool-and-die, and tool design industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mathematics for machine technology review August 6, 2000
Format:Paperback
Temple College in Temple, Texas was awarded a $600K Grant to update the skills of the workers in industry. The math skills of the existing and new employees are exceptionally low. The difference between normal math as I call it and the aproach of the "Mathematics for Machine Technology" is that the students do not know where to apply the math that they have learned. With Mathematics for Machine Technology the aproach is applied mathmatics. This math is applied every day in the industry and now the math becomes functional. This is a great teaching aid to use by itself or to complement the math that is now being taugh. I bring measuring instruments such as verniers, caliphers, micromenters and others into the teaching enviroment to stress where the math is used.

1.0 out of 5 stars condition not as advertised October 3, 2013
By Ahg007
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Overall great book content wise, but it was stained, pages were stuck together, and it smells heavily of pot. NOT my definition of "used, good condition"

4.0 out of 5 stars Math Book March 14, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a good math book. On time delivery. Only thing is that I wish it focused more on real shop math situations. Some of the stuff in this book we will never use in the shop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best way to buy textbooks. March 6, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Tremendous value for the money. Bookbyte always sends a better quality book than you expect. I think I paid about 1/3 the price of a new book. Other than a few pages where the corners were bent and a few others with pencil notations, the book was in perfect shape. It's going to be used in a machine shop, not on a coffee table.
