There is always plenty of action, suspense, and just the right amount of love and passion.
Amy (So Many Reads)
Jayce, is a true alpha male, an “enforcer” for the shifter Council, strong, over confident, stubborn, and so very sexy.
The characters in the prior two books play a large parts in this story and make it more cohesive and well thought out.

Kat walked away from shifter and enforcer Jayce after a lie broke her heart. Back in her life nearly a year later following an attack that resulted in her turning, Jayce has made it clear he's not leaving her unprotected again. It took all of Jayce's considerable strength to not go after Kat when she left him. He thought by not taking her as his mate he was protecting her but after seeing her battered body, he recognizes his mistake and hopes it's not too late to fix it before he loses the woman he'd give his life for.

Daughter of an arms dealer, Kat is no wilting flower but the torture she faced at the hands of a crazed member of the radical Antiparanormal League (APL) has left her scared. To help get back what was taken from her, Jayce shows her how to use her new shifter abilities and they soon become involved after promising to keep their emotional distances. Each has their own reason for wanting to keep the other at arm's length. Jayce fears the enemies he gained doing his job will come after her while Kat thinks he didn't want to bond with her when she was human because he didn't love her. Jayce and Kat are fantastic. Every scene oozes passion and even when fighting, they have this deep connection waiting to be recognized. And the smex scenes? *fans self* Saying they're hot doesn't do them justice but it's not just steamy sex. Shifter couples mate on a level that's so meaningful and sensual, they're unlike any other paranormal mating and Jayce and Kat are a perfect example of it done right.

The APL is hatching a new plan to make the human public turn against their supernatural neighbors and not even their own members are safe from what they think is the greater good. This group is diabolical and when one of them is taken out, an even more heinous player takes his place.

I was so looking forward to the release of this book, but I was really disappointed. The best part of this book was the free sample, afterwards it went down hill for me (although it had its moments). There was TOO much going on, too many characters taking page space, and thus not enough interaction between hero and heroine. Actually (to me) a lot of this book felt like prep-up for other books to come.

Also I had expected for the hero to want a permanent relationship with the heroine, after what had happened to her in the first book of this series, and his reaction to it. But that was not the case. And what is this about the hero trying "to convince her to rekindle their love"???????? He was in lust with her to be sure, and he had strong, protective feelings for the heroine, but it was way past the second half of this Kindle book, before the hero finally admits to himself, that he wants forever with her. Before that he had stead-fastly refused to commit to the heroine for her own safety, and his hope had been (before she broke up with him because of this reason), that he would eventually tired of her, there was not love from his point of view, obssession, but not love. While throughout this book (and the last book too) the heroine is more than ready for forever, except for the fact she is hurt because he had not wanted the same thing. It truly annoyed me that about 75% (if not more) of her thoughts, are not about the revenge (refered to in the sample) but about how she desires the hero, how in love she had been with him, how she still loves him, and how hurt she stili is that he did not want a permanent relationship with her.

My recap:

(Warning: Background from PRIMAL POSSESSION included.)

Wolf-shifter Jayce Kazan is the powerful, deadly enforcer for the North American Council of lupine shifters. He didn't know the meaning of fear until he met human Kat Saburova and took her as his lover. Afraid that his many enemies would target her, he denied Kat the mate bond. She left him, and left them both brokenhearted.

Afterwards, Kat was kidnapped by the Antiparanormal League (APL) and nearly died. Jayce couldn't find her in time, and so another shifter saved her life by turning her into a shifter (Primal Possession). Since then, Jayce has been trying to contact Kat, but she has spurned him. And she has been living apart from her new pack, trying to recover from her ordeal.

But even though those who kidnapped Kat are dead, the APL is still active. And Kat is determined to see the man in charge pay for his crimes. Jayce is just as determined to protect her from danger. Because he knows that what he feels for Kat is more than passion. It's the mating instinct…

My thoughts:

Jayce is everything you love in a dark, alpha hero. He's dominant, protective, powerful, scary, deadly, and dead sexy. Yowza!

Kat is a victim who has nightmares about what was done to her. But she's not whiny about it and is a strong woman. She's determined to learn self-defense, and more. She wants to kick some butt.

The love story is poignant. You'll feel the heartbreak on both sides, and long for the two lovers to reconcile. The sexual tension is as tight as a bowstring.

Murder, mystery, suspense, and mortal danger pack this page-turner. This is a book that will keep you up late into the night reading "just one more chapter." I speak from experience.
