"MATIZES" is definitely a "five star" CD. We may not be able to follow his native language, but as true music lovers, we don't have to. Djavan is so gracious to let us in and go along for the ride as he shares with us the different "shades" of his musical spirit and soul. He is truly blessed and we look forward to more of his CDs and DVDS. A true musical genius!
Djavan's arrangements are absolutely amazing. His first song "Joaninha" draws us back to and exhibits the influence of the Beatles in the vocals, the chord changes, and the phrasing of the lyrics. "Mea-Culpa" steps up the beat with a driving bass, and in turn you STEP UP TO the beat. The distinct samba beat of "Delirio Dos Mortais" has me doing an improvised version of the dance, of my own creation. (What fun!) "Desandou" has been characterized as a blues number. I say, "let me be blue." They never sounded so good! He has chosen a support ensemble of musicians that collaborate artistically, are totally complimentary and blend seamlessly, as does the artwork on the CD cover and title song - THUS "MATIZES."
Djavan's chords, the different rhythms, the scatting are universal and cover all gammets of the music world. Easy listening, easy to understand (whatever language), TOTAL ENJOYMENT!!!

I received the CD in the time period promised. I was very impressed with the prompt delivery and the CD is excellent. The condition was brand new and I was very pleased to do business with this company. I will look forward to ordering more music from this artist and I hope I will be purchasing from this company.
