Book Description

January 15, 2003
Matri, Letters from the Mother, is a small, very intimate collection of letters from the Divine Mother to the women of the world. It speaks of hope and kindness, prayer and stillness, peace and light. The author, Zoë Ann Nicholson, uses this literary device to express her heart and her knowledge of the Mother. It is succinct, elegant and can be read again and again. It belongs in a purse, on a puja, next to a bed. It is dear, timeless and filled with love.

From the Author

The Author's Introduction.

The Mother is waiting. The Mother is waiting for you. If you listen very carefully, you can hear her calling you. If you lie in your bed, close your eyes, clear your mind and listen most carefully, you can hear her. You can hear her in those still, tiny moments when the roar of the world quiets down.

The Mother is just on the other side of thought waiting for you to find her. Although she is powerful enough to pierce through the veil of thought by herself, she does not seek to force her way into your consciousness, to your life, to the planet. She wants to be invited and welcomed through the practice of meditation and mindfulness by the women living and working on earth. As she flows into your life, you will discover who you really are and who you are intended to be.

The Mother has asked me to tell you how to find her. She has shown me her plans for liberation. They are for every woman. They are simple and easy. She has not told me what she will say to you. She has not told me what will be the truth for you. She has not told me anything about her plan for you. She has only led me to this very point. My next step is her design.

Who is this Mother who has so many plans and so much to say? She is absolute consciousness, knowledge and light. She has many names; Isis, Tara, Diana, Gaia. To Hindus, she is Kali, Lakshmi and Sarasvati. To Catholics, she is the Madonna. To Chinese, she is Kuan Yin. She appears in every culture, in every age, in every dimension. She is Durga - the Mother of the Universe. She is Shakta - Life itself. She is hiding in you, waiting to be discovered.

5.0 out of 5 stars MATRI --Letters from the Mother, January 24, 2003
By
Connie Kadley (Laguna Woods, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Matri, Letters from the Mother (Paperback)
I found "Matri" to be a gentle but profound and poetic guide for women and men on a spiritual path. Zoe Ann Nicholson draws upon the wisdom of saints and seekers from many cultures, many times, and suggests a practice by which today's women and men might weave a new and unique tapestry of harmony and balance from today's chaotic and fragmented energies.

"Matri" points out that we need look no further than our own heart to courageously participate with all of creation in sourcing a harmonious world. I highly recommend this little book. It is indeed inspired.

4.0 out of 5 stars In the words of the Mother..., March 10, 2003
This review is from: Matri, Letters from the Mother (Paperback)
This small, but powerful book reinforces the necessity of balance, shakti, chi, grace: the life-giving, life-sustaining energy contained in the feminine principle in a world of duality. A call for balance and harmony, this series of "Letters from the Mother" of all is a wonderful compendium of brief, yet potent meditations for women who seek balance and empowerment through increased spiritual awareness.

To read Matri is to begin a journey toward reaffirming and regaining our lives and contributing to a refreshed world without dissembling or rationalization. Step by step, we are led through a daily practice of clarity and renewal, beginning with the interior self. As daughters, we are reminded to occupy our personal space respectfully, enjoy harmonious unions based on the renewal of spiritual energy and respond appropriately to the needs of the world we inhabit.

Like the soothing rhythm of the ocean breaking upon the shore, the key to a balanced and fruitful life lies in the most subtle nuances, the calm voice of the Mother urging us to our better selves that we might begin to infuse the world with peace. Listen carefully, not for answers, but understanding. Luan Gaines/2003.
