I have used a variety of mouse and keyboard combinations from the couch and this is my new favorite. This mouse was made by the same people that make G-box products so theres no doubt that its compatible with the mx2.

The good:

INCREDIBLE RANGE! This thing works from the room across from the TV. Far better than anything Ive used before.
Very accurate pointer. Of all the gyro keyboards I have tried this one seems more accurate and easier to operate.
Mouse toggle button is on point! You can hold button and move mouse, let go and cursor stays in position. much more convenient for clicking or you can double click the toggle and mouse stays running constantly. Very useful.
Not too big and not too small. This thing fits perfect in my hand unlike other bulkier styles. Its the size of a real remote.
Great style design. This is the sexiest gyro remote I have ever seen.
Priced right. It's less expensive than others. Good value!

The not so good:

Runs on batteries instead of rechargeable. I prefer rechargeable. Although I havent had to change the batteries they probably last a long long time but still.
Sometimes when pressing the mouse toggle button to move the mouse and let go the mouse pointer keeps going. This only seems to happen if I let go in the middle of moving. Not sure if this is a feature or what.
Still need to use the MX2 remote to turn on and off the box.
Overall this is a GREAT BUY if you have the MX2. For the price I havent seen a better gyro keyboard/mouse combo yet. Even with its not so good qualities I still highly recommend it.

The Buttons are not clearly labeled for the various XBMC functions. Here's what I found with trial and error:
Space - Play/Pause
X - Stop
P - Pause
F - Fst Fwd
R - Rew

{ - Seek Fwd
} - Seek Rew
> - Seek +30sec
< - Seek -30sec

+ - Vol Up
- - Vol Down

L - Language
T - Subtitles
A - Audio Offset
Z - Zoom

C - Context Menu (in XBMX lib)
S - Shutdown

Good luck!

It would seem that a remote made for the G-Box by the same company would be better than it seems to be. Granted I have not had it long and as it is I can say it works....but i think it should and could be a bit more user friendly. I also have a full size keyboard that works but who can relax with that in your lap watching anything? I was lucky enough to find Droidmote that works superb on my Galaxy S3 for free and the extra app by the same name that has to be installed on the G-Box for under 3 bucks. So for those who have an Android based phone it does not have to be rooted but the box does, save your money and get the Droidmote and you have all controls and more over the remote that comes with the unit. So as it stands I have the original remote that comes with the unit, a full size keyboard I bought because I needed more control than the OE remote gives you (well it may do it all but it will take you all night trying to input text with the on screen keyboard) and this remote and have over 50 dollars worth of remotes and I think that the remote I have under 3 bucks in apps is heads and tails above all 3 that i have talked about.

Love this rf remote made by Matricom for their G-Box MX2 media player. Truly plug and play. I just wish the keyboard had a backlight.

Overall, having this Matricom mouse-keyboard combo is far better than without it in running (navigating) the Midnight MX2.

I had problem with entering the key ": (colon)", which is located right above "; (semicolon)" on the same key. Logically, I pressed this key after pressing the "shift" key once OR while holding down the "shift" key, but in either case without success. I kept getting "; (semicolon)" instead.

For this key entry issue, Matricom was prompt and enthusiastic in trying to resolve it by calling me at my work.

At first, the support staff (Nick) said that they would replace the item if it's found to be defective. He was also quick to find out that the ": (colon)" key entry was not functional when doing it within XBMC.

Later on at home, I confirmed that the ": (colon)" key indeed worked fine (by holding the "shift" key down at the same time) during my Google search (i.e., outside of XBMC).

They said they were working on to "update" or otherwise improve the combo's functionality (e.g., for XBMC).

I must also re-emphasize here the point I made earlier: Having this (rather inexpensive) mouse-keyboard combo is far better than without it in running (navigating) the MX2 box (especially in using the combo as a mouse). After all, what I cannot do with the combo (e.g., within XBMC at this time), I can still do so with the remote control that came with the MX2 box. For example, I can still type in "@" or ":" outside or within XBMC by using the remote control.

Regardless, the so-called very tiny and thin user manual does not tell us how to enter the special characters, symbols, and function keys.
