5.0 out of 5 stars Great
This CD is really awesome. Dogwood really does have a slightly different sound on all of their albums. This one reminds me a lot of NOFX, actually. It's good stuff. My favorite tracks are "Do Or Die" and "1983".

3.0 out of 5 stars They're Going Weak!
Up to More than conquerors they were pretty hard. Then On Building a better me they started softening up a little. this CD has got to be the weakest of them all! Although the music is still very good, I was much more into the older stuff. 4.0 out of 5 stars get it, September 22, 2003

this cd is great, their best cd was 'more than conquerors', but this is one is also good. i dont know what people think when they write reviews like," this cd was dissapointing." 'do or die', 'a hope unseen' are the best songs on the cd. i gave it a 4, because it is more produced than their other cd's, but its still great. i recommend it, its not poppy, its good punk rock. people that dont even like punk, like these guys cause they're actually good, not like all the other bands out there. they have talent. get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Wonderful CD by an AWESOME Band, July 7, 2003
By
Janna (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Matt Aragon (Audio CD)
Dogwood is an awesome band, and this is another great album that they made. Matt Aragon is a CD with a different sound from any of their other CDs, with a great message and an overall great sound.

First of all, it still amazes me how all of the Dogwood's CDs are so different and unrepetitive from each other, while still retaining Dogwood's general sound that makes them great. I have heard Seismic, Building a Better Me, More Than Conquerors, Through Thick and Thin, and now Matt Aragon. All of those CDs have their own unique sound but they're all still Dogwood.

Matt Aragon is definitely different. Don't buy this CD expecting to hear another "Building a Better Me." If you want another "Building a Better Me" or "More Than Conquerors" or any other CD, I suggest that you just listen to that CD, because Dogwood is not repetitive. They make something completely different each time.

This CD is actually a lot softer and more melodic than their others. If you're looking for a harder CD, I suggest that you buy Seismic as well as this CD. So even though yes, it is less punk than their other CDs, at least in my opinion, this CD still amazes me. It is SOOO relaxing and for some reason, even though it still sounds like Dogwood, it is such a different sound but it is goooood, trust me. The whole CD just flows together in a great way. Even though it sounds less polished than Building, it doesn't matter on this CD, because it just sounds so great.

All the songs have great lyrics, sounding like poetry with instruments added to it. If you just sit back and listen to this CD, you will find great messages in these lyrics.

I could go on and on forever saying how great Matt Aragon is. That's because it was a really great CD. I didn't expect to like it either, because I heard that it didn't even compare to Building a Better Me and i really liked that CD. But I strongly recommend that you go against your doubts about this CD, and just buy it and listen to it anyway, because you will not be disappointed.

The only reason I gave this CD 4 stars instead of 5 is because i'll admit that it's not the BEST CD I've ever heard. It is a bit short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different sound, but still good, November 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Matt Aragon (Audio CD)
You know when you really like a band, then they take their style and switch it up a bit, and you think the new sound sucks? Well, Dogwood changed their sound a little on their latest, Matt Aragon, but it doesn't suck! In fact, it's pretty good. Sure, they will probably never make an album as good as Building a better me again, but Matt Aragon is definitely worth a listen. My favorite track is Singular as it has one of the best guitar sounds on the disk. Do or die and A hope unseen are both awesome tunes as well. All in all, I wasn't as impressed with this album as I was with Building a better me, but this is still a decent record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, March 1, 2005

Me (The Middle of Nowhere) - See all my reviews

This is Dogwood's best CD! How could anyone give it less than 5 stars? It's probably their most melodic album, but that doesn't mean it's soft, Matt Aragon is packed full of great Christian hardcore and pop punk. My favourite song is Do or Die, but EVERY album on this CD is great, and that's what makes it such a good album.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE HECK OF A PUNK RAWK CD!..., October 2, 2001
This review is from: Matt Aragon (Audio CD)
Although dogwood's sound has changed I don't think they have gone weak. This album is as punk as it gets in my opinion. It just has more of a melodic feel but they stay true to their hardcore/punk roots. It isn't quite as good as building a better me but it comes very close. It has some weird technical things going on at times but they basically have the same sound. So if you like dogwood or punk rock this is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Dogwood CD, October 19, 2001

This is a good CD. I don't think it is *quite* as good as Building A Better Me, and I don't really know how to compare it to the older CDs. It is a bit different than the other CDs they have. This is an awesome CD though, and you should get it. Sean (Guitar) is playing in this CD and did write some songs (Sean left the band after the release of this CD).

Although the music is still very good, I was much more into the older stuff. Do or Die is probably the highlight of this CD because the bass on this song is very cool, and so is the bass on the other songs. The Bass on this album is way superior to anything on the other albums. The guitar riffs aren't too great, and russel wasn't very creative this time either.
