your cat just got hit by a car? no problem, just one track of of this album will have you dancing around the room like a cracked out kangaroo.
Brooklyn based Matt and Kim have an amazing abilitiy to get your body movin in ways you never thought possible.

my girlfriend loves M&K and I just don't get it or can't get into it. I understand that they're "fun" and "dancy", but that's as far as it goes for me. other than that, I kinda find them to be more of a typical NYC hipster novelty act. its tolerable but the thing that drives me insane is the faux british accent the guy sings with, which is way too common with acts like...

I haven't had as many of the songs grow on me as much as Matt & Kim's album "Grand". But it is still a good buy.

Saw them at Bonnaroo 2011, What a live show. Kim is a hard working drummer, who puts on a tremendous show. The music makes you want to get up and move.

Definitely an excellent album, and they're a brilliant live act as well. Make sure you have a listen, and go see them live if you get the chance!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pillow Fight Music, September 19, 2009
This review is from: Matt & Kim (Audio CD)
Ever wondered what Mates of State would sound like if they'd met in junior high and Kori took a back seat on the vocals? That's Matt & Kim. Two people, drums and keyboards, and much like MoS, the lyrics don't -completely- make sense all the time but that's part of the charm. They know something you don't. The biggest difference I can see between the two are that M&K's sound is 'simpler' (That's not an insult.)

I'd been meaning to pick this up after hearing "Yea Yeah" on a podcast over two years ago. I'm kicking myself for waiting this long. This album makes you want to run around and jump on the bed and spray silly string at people. It's just feel good music like Los Campesinos!'s Sticking Fingers Into Sockets.

The only negative thing I can think of about this album, is that the songs start to all sound alike after a while. Which is not a terrible thing, really (see: Bouncing Souls).
Nearly perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars its a breath of fresh air, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Matt & Kim (Audio CD)
Matt sounds a lot like the lead singer of Thursday (Geoff Rickly). i did happen to notice the faux-British accent(if that's what it must be called); it really didn't bother me. its a style thing i suppose. i really enjoy their unique sound as well as the courage it takes to put out a record with so little working knowledge of their instruments. that takes a lot of guts. i've been playing guitar for years and couldn't imagine putting out any recordings yet. take this for what it is and don't read too much into it.
