Uno is a wonderful game for the whole family. It doesn't matter if you are all kids, or adults everyone will enjoy this game.I started playing Uno when I was in elementary school, during rainy recesses (which happens a lot in Seattle). It was a great game that get a lot of kids involved and helped to pass the time. Recently my family went on a trip and someone brought Uno with them. I hadn't played it for years, but I immediately got into the spirit of things, and was amazed to remember most of the rules. (Although it seems that everyone plays Uno a little differently) We spent hours each night around a table together, talking, having fun, and playing Uno. I don't think I have ever had so much fun with my family. I would recommend the game to anyone especially if they are looking for a way to create special family time.

A classic card game for all ages,

Uno and Clue were the two games that my friends and I played constantly while we were growing up. We probably played UNO more often because it was more portable, was owned by more people and could be played by younger siblings. Uno is an entertaining and challenging game because the word cards (skip, reverse, wildcard, draw two, and the much coveted wildcard-draw 4) mean that play is constantly changing. It's similar to the game eights, but the use of colors rather than suites and the larger than normal cards make it easier for younger children to grasp. It is fun and addicting even for adults (who will also like the colors and large cards). I played it recently with my younger sister, who is eleven, her friend, and my roomates, who'd never played before. My roomates were hooked, I enjoyed it just as much as when I was in elementary school, and we were all beaten soundly by people half our age. Definitely a classic card game.

Both of my kids (boy-5, girl-8) like to play this game, and so do I (the Mom). The only difficulty for my 5-year-old is that he has trouble holding the cards, so he puts them behind a box. Of the games we have, this is one of the most requested when I offer to play a game with them. It's similar to crazy 8s, but there are more types of special cards, which make it more fun.Other good features of the game: (1) It's short, typically 5-10 minutes. (2) The house rules that are included encourage you to make up your own variations. (3) Remembering to say "Uno" with only one card left is a fun twist.

Starting with 7 cards, all you need to do is discard them one at a time by matching the color or number of the last card played. Sound easy? Well, don't forget the Skip, Reverse and Draw Two cards. Not to mention your opponent can play a Wild or Wild Draw Four at any time and change the color on you. And don't forget to say "Uno" before you play your next to the last card or you'll be drawing more. Needless to say, your fortunes can change instantly in this game.I've played this game with my family for years, and we all still love it. Every game is completely different, so anyone has a chance of winning no matter their skill level. You can keep score and play to a certain point total, but my family usually just plays rounds. This allows you to play for a few minutes or as long as you like. This particular version features all the cards and original rules. In addition, they selected the best "House Rules" sent in by players to add some variety to the game. Personally, I've played several different wild variations, and they're all as much fun as the original. Small and easy to carry with you, you can play it anywhere there's enough room for two decks of cards side by side. This is a game the entire family can enjoy at home or on the go.

My 6 year old son has just discovered Uno! And he loves it! His request every night after dinner is "Can we play Uno?". Even my 4 year old son has caught onto the rules. You just need to know how to match colors and numbers. Adding up his cards and keeping score for the whole family, gives my son practice with his math skills. But it is so fun he doesn't even realize he is learning addition. I enjoy turning off the TV and gathering the family together for good old-fashioned fun. Uno has turned into one of my favorite gifts - it's terrific for any age!

I bought this copy of Uno thinking that "original" might mean something other than the contemporary graphics. The box did not contain the word "original" as advertised here, and a user-uploaded image of Uno is nothing like the one shipped. The cards were smaller than the traditional version of Uno. While I'm happy to have a set of Uno cards, I'm disappointed that it didn't have the original artwork or the original sizes for a product advertised as "original" on Amazon. Just be aware.
EDIT 12/14/2010: It looks like Amazon has changed the image. This is the image of the game we received. Now you know. EDIT 1/5/2011: It looks like Amazon has changed thei mage back. Sigh.

I've never seen uno cards like these. It says original but not like the original I had before. The wild cards do not consist of all the colors of the other cards (red, blue, yellow, red)

The reason UNO is "The Best Card Game Out" is because it is a fun and easy game to play. The only things you need to know is your numbers and colors. Once you know that you are ready to play an exiciting card game. It is more fun when you play with a group of people and play Illumination. Illumation is For Example:say you are playing with 7 people and one person already wins the game out of the 6 people left they keep playing until the last person is left but the first person wins the game automatically.

Our family loves uno! We prefer the original cards over the newer version... We like the art work of the original cards. We picked up a deck at the local walmart of the new version and we were very disappointed with the artwork (VERY!)
This picture of the original uno cards looks very close to our decks through out the years, as we have gone through so many decks because we play so much and love the game of uno! Even our three year old plays, how ever we need the art work on the cards because also use uno as an educational tool and with out the original art work it will be hard to continue to use the cards for an education purpose, I have also heard that some schools also use uno for educational purposes.. So with that said if you are looking for the original uno, buy these as we tried the local store and we are very disappointed with our deck from the local store... Happy playing!! |
