What more could you want in a toy?,

This toy is fun, educational, theraputic, and inexpensive. My autistic daughter first played with this when her early interventionist brought it. All of the other reviews on this toy are right on! I bought this for her to keep at home, it was so great. There are many ways to play with this. You can use it as a puzzle to match the shapes and put the cookies together. You can play memory with them. My daughter is now too old for them to use in these ways, so she plays "tea party" with them! How's that for toy mileage! I was surprised to see them in "vanilla". (Ours were chocolate like Oreos) Neat! This toy is for everyone, whether the children have special needs or not. I hope this review helps.

My favorite thing about Matchin' Middles is how big and sturdy the pieces are, so even the littlest kids can play with it. So many games for preschoolers have small cardboard pieces, which means little brother can easily destroy them or swallow them. With Matchin' Middles, even my one year old can safely play with it - he enjoys opening the container, pulling the pieces out, and putting them back. His older brother learned turn-taking and all his shapes from the great memory game (which can be easily adjusted depending on the child's ability). A-plus.

I picked this toy up at Target yesterday for my two sons, ages 2 and 3. My oldest, who has Sensory Processing Disorder, is really into matching right now, but the Memory Game pieces are a bit too flimsy for him yet. This game is right-on for him. With my 3 year old, we've been playing the first version of the game as listed in the instructions, practicing taking turns (still a bit of a new concept for him) and putting back the cream fillings that don't match our own toppers. I find it is excellent for visual discernment (does it match?), tactile stimulation (you can trace the outline of the shapes with your fingertip), fine motor skills (snapping the pieces together), and turn taking. Both of my sons have already been pretend playing with these cookies as well, "eating" them and serving them to one another.
My 2 year old is having a ball dumping and filling the cookie jar, and matching up the pieces at random. Honestly, I think this may be the best $10 I've spent in a long time!!

My mother-in-law brought this toy for my daughter and I love it for her. She's going to be 4 in a month and it's helping me teach her shapes. The moon shape is the only shape she had a real problem with putting together, but everything else she could do. We ended up playing memory with it by turning over the halves and picking at random. I like it because it's a fun toy for her while exposing her to shapes she wouldn't normally see. The extra appeal to her was that it was in the shape of cookies (something she's very familiar with). I love this toy and highly recommend it!

Just want to shoot out props for this toy. I got this from a co-worker for free, so maybe my opinion of toy is skewed, so stating that bias upfront.
This is one of the best toys and the age description on the game is accurate. My youngest easily takes apart the cookies, and knows it's not real cookies. and they are larger than real oreo's so a toddler couldn't choke on it if they put in their mouth. I imagine this toy will serve dual purposes as my daughter gets older and wants to play house. Its great because you can scatter them and they look for the matches and when that becomes too easy. you could turn it into a memory game, where you make an oreo grid cookie side up, and play the classic memory match game, taking turns and the one with the most cookies wins. This toy appears to be discontinued, I hope they bring it back. and i highly recommend buying, should be able to resell it!

My son love this game very much. It is basically a memory game but instead of cards it is cookie halves.

My son loves these cookies. It took me forever to find them. They are not available in stores. They use them in his therapy. Great item for delayed children.

This is perfect for a child who is not quite ready for a memory game. It teaches matching and shapes and a little dexterity without the stress of not knowing where things are. My daughter seemed to "master" it quickly though so it became a speed game after a while.
It comes in a small container which is great for traveling. |
