5.0 out of 5 stars Review on Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Disk
This item is good for kids i suppose 8+. It is great, the real life-point counter, slip magic/trap cards into the magic/trap cards slot just like in the show! It really lights up when a monster card is laid down or magic/trap card is inserted into the slot. This toy needs 3 watch-batteries, but we know how cheap those are! This is a great present for christmas, birthday,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, almost true to the show, a little bulky though.
I have been a duelist for about a year now and actually I am a judge at my local card shop. I also enjoy watching the show on TV. The look and action of this Duel Disk is exactly as it is on the show. However, you realize how oversized and bulky this thing is when you put it on your wrist. I can only imagine my nephew (who is 8) would be able to keep his arm up with this...

This is a great present for christmas, birthday, or just for a friendly gift. The price is great, only 34.95! It was supposed to be 60.00, and it was supposed to have the magic/trap card area slide from under the monster card area! This is great, who cares about holograms, kids just need a new device to duel with, and you can duel Head to Head, WOW! This is literally the 1st card playing machine that caculates damage and everthing! Thanks, I really prefer you buy this, I am getting one for somebody on Christmas! Thank You, and God Bless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duel Disk Launcher, November 11, 2003
A Kid's Review
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Disk Accessory (Toy)
Okay, as you probably know, there are no holograms in this thing, but i don't care. Holograms are a long ways off, but they do exist (besides motion cards) and I've heard that they're trying to come out with them in January, so I guess we'll see. Anyway on to the duel disk.

It's pretty useful as it eliminates tables, chairs, paper and pencils (for life points) and the incredibly dorky and outdated duel mats. You may think that the life point counter is digital but it's actually wheels with numbers on them. Each one has a button that moves it down one number. They each go up to nine and the button for the ones digit dosen't move the wheel, it lights up the numbers, so if you use Winged Dragon of Ra, remeber that. There is a switch on the bottom that you can set to make the numbers light up permanently or temporarily when lit.

The graveyard is covered by a red top that flip up so you can search through. The cards are held down by a white tab, but it fills up pretty fast, just put in 20 cards and the rest start sticking out. The deck holder can only hold up to 62 cards, so if your deck is big you might want to consider getting a deck fix, or reconsider buying the duel disk. Some people say it's a real pain to get out the deck and graveyard, but it really isn't. When you take out the deck you sometimes have to dig under to get out the bottom cards, but that's about it.

The monster card area has slots that hold cards by the corners in attack or defense, and you could hold the disk upside down and shake it and they wouldn't fall out. The magic/trap card spaces are in front, so you have to hold the disk down so that your opponent dosen't see your cards. As for the fact that you can't use plastic slips, the only part of the disc that ruins the cards is the field magic card space which pops out the side and bends the bottom corners if you don't push the card down in there, but there aren't many valuble field cards anyway. It dosen't have spaces for fusion decks or a removed from play area, but you can just keep them at the bottom of the graveyard the entire time.

It has a switch on the bottom that shifts it from standby mode to duel mode but it is spring loaded, not electronic so you have to hold your hand down to not get scratched or pinched. It is kind of bulky, but it's lightweightness makes up for that. That's about all. If you think it has too many downsides, wait till' they make the real one, but I think it's cool. If you want to get it, I hope you like it. See ya!

4.0 out of 5 stars My boys 10 & 7 LOVE this! I still have reservations......., November 12, 2005
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Disk Accessory (Toy)
My boys Mario & Nicholas have desperately "needed" these for a long time. I was always successful at re-directing this desperate need elsewhere. The thought of spending 30.00 times 2 on a typical Friday night out was staggerging. But OH that guilt everytime they talked about them would burn in me for at least 1 full minute. Then one day I caved!

This is not a one person toy. You need someone else who will play the card game with you. The purpose of this toy is to provide a "game board" for playing with the Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

The overall scoop on this toy is as follows: The toy is basically a very large plastic toy that rests on your child's forearm. There is a small fabric (halloween costume quality) arm band that is supposed to secure this to the child's arm. There are also two velcro straps which are meant to help hold this securely. This set-up works fine for my 10 year who has an "athletic build" and his arms are fuller. My 7 year old is one of these "drink of water", "skinny", fast kids and his limbs are very long and very thin. I added extra velcro (the stick on kind) to help hold this on his little arm. The weight of the toy makes it necessary for it to fit securely on the arm. There is a slot which holds your "dueling deck" and another which is the "graveyard" (spent cards). The big plastic "wing part" is your game board. The toy is a simple as that. There are buttons that light up and score counters, hence the batteries.

I don't know about you but in my world, a 30.00 game board is simply not necessary, BUT in my boys world, I am dead WRONG...and I am the first to admit it. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!

This toy is large to store! It is part of my boys room's decor. It is constantly out in my home and it gets a whole lot of "play time." I have spent $60 on small appliances for myself that I have used less.

This has made my investment in Yu-Gi-Oh cards worthwhile. This toy gives them a cool and good reason to duel.

I have not had any issues with breakage. The toy is self-sufficient and child friendly. There is no impact on my time to set it up when the boys play. They do this on their own. I am constantly telling them to pick them up though...a great sign when you have so much invested in a toy, at least in my opinion.

Ovarall, as a parent, I am thrilled that my boys are so thrilled and use these as much as they do. They are not in constant use but there is a consistency to their use. They never end up in the back of the closet. My boys really did "NEED" these toys and I was too overly value consciousness to spring for them earlier. My mistake!

If your children are like mine and have been expressing an interest in these, give in and purchase these for them. This will get one of the "WOW" reactions!

Just keep repeating to yourself, "it's not about me!"

This is one great item! You shouldn't be ashamed of your age if your past 14 and like this. I'm 17 and I love it! The hologram projector is a little way off, but it will be a great improvement to the gameplay! It's awesome! If there's only one item you can get from Yu-Gi-Oh! a year, consider this if you're a big fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE!!!!!, December 7, 2003
A Kid's Review
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Disk Accessory (Toy)
This toy is a must have, and I am getting one for Christmas, which is right around the corner. It is worth every penny. So far, this is what I know about it so far. There is no fusion deck space or space for cards out of play. Please don't be mistaken and get the Fight Disk!! From what I know, this is much better. The fight disk has 6 slots instead of 5, the graveyard is much smaller, and you have to apply a gazillion stickers. Now don't go and buy the Fight Disk or the Duel Disk Launcher, because they both don't have holograms. If they ever come out with holograms, they must be not that good, probably all black and white. Ok, so back to about the toy. There is a field card holder(yay), but you have to pull it out, and it kind of wrecks the field card. It does the same thing with the monster cards, because it kind of wrecks the corners, and the duel disk doesn't hold card holders or deck cases. If it did, then for the duelists that don't use holders(That would be me, because I think they are a nuisance when shuffling), then when you put your arm down to rest, then the cards would all fall off, and then the duel would be over. You also have to be careful when inserting the spell(magic) and trap cards. Your opponent could see them. Okay, enough flaws. Now the good stuff. At least this isn't the fight disk. It is lightweight, about one pound, and you can put your arm down and rest. If you have a small dueling deck, this toy is for you. There is also no space in the duel disk for a side deck, and the normal deck only holds about 60 cards. The graveyard holds even less, about 30. If you own this toy, everyone will be jealous of you. Also, if you get the duel disk, then you can recycle your game mat. This toy has a lot of flaws, so Mattel should watch Yugioh a little more closer. This toy is a little big, though. I hope my review was helpful. Wait, one more thing! It also has a light-up life point counter.
This is what you used to need to duel before you get this:
A Deck
A Game Mat
A Pencil and Paper or a Good Memory
An Opponent to duel against

Now this is what you need
A Deck
A Duel Disk Launcher
An Opponent.

This toy is very durable. It is less educational than fun and durable, because there is not that much education, only a little bit of math here and there, and thinking of a straegy.

Once again, I hope my review was helpful. This is the second review I have posted, and that one had 3 out of 3. I hope that this one gets at least 9 out of 10. Thank you for reading this review, and Merry Christmas everybody!!!
This toy is on my list, and I WANT IT!!!!

The Duel Disk is an awesome toy. (This must be the gazillionth time you heard this) but be forewarned, Only get the AMERICAN version! I (rather supidly really) Got the FIGHT DISK. There is 10 differences.
1: The Fight disk is Yu-Gi-Oh!, But its Japanese
2: The Deck holder holds 50 (only) cards. not 62
3: The Graveyard is MUCH smaller
4: The (Blade) Section (I heard that in another review) does
>>>>NOT<<<< Split into two parts
5: I's sooo inacurate i almost cried. there are 6 slots and not 5
6: You have to put Sticker after Sticker after Sticker and it still looks cheesy
7: There is this BIG UGLY Yu-Gi-Oh! Symbol on the (Blade)
8: The Blade does not have those little overlaps to make sure the card won't fall off
9: The Magic holders make it soooo hard to pull the spell cards out
10: The Plastic smells HOOOORIBLE

hope you found this helpfull!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad!, July 14, 2004
By A Customer

This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Disk Accessory (Toy)
I was skeptical about getting this toy for my boys, but I'm glad I got it. Not only does it keep them happy, but they play with the thing all the time. I've been waiting for the time they play with it for a couple of hours and then it end up "lost" in the rubble like most of their toys that their bored of playing with. Though their too young (ages 9 & 5) to really know how to "duel" ,they love making up their own rules or mimicking one of the Yu-gi-oh cartoons. So far its outlasted many attacks and defenses. Their cards stay in one place (instead of all over the floor or table) and they can take the toy with them, especially in the car (where most times I'm looking for lost cards that fall in between seats and on the floor). The cards stay in one place!
No regrets here.

Once again, no one should be afraid to admit their age. I'm 14 and I collect YGO cards and everything. I bought my duel disk at toys r us for $36! and trust me its worth it! It has monster slots for both atk and def position. Bad thing is that the magic and traps go in front. But if your careful your opponent wont see them. The LP thing lights up too. um... The deck holder is a little small so I recomend having a deck with no more than 50 cards. Graveyard is really small but hey if your a good duelist then u shouldnt worry about it. My favorite part is the positions. They change quickly so kids beware, cuts and scratches can occur. Everytime you place a card down it makes the little noise like on the show. This is one excellent toy and would make a great christmas gift! Happy Shopping!!

I think title says it all. This thing's got all stuff you need to duel, monster attack/defense slots, magic/trap slot, deck holder, graveyard, field magic's like in cartoon. A few drawbacks, though. The magic/trap slots are on front side of of duel disk, so you have to insert cards carefully. otherwise opponent will see them. Also, doesn't work with card sleeves, and if your deck has over 55 cards in it, it gets hard to draw cards. And on lifepoint counter you can't change last digit of lifepoints, so if you've Winged Dragon of Ra keep that in mind.

The Yu-Gi-Oh duel disk is really fun and just sooo cool! This item is just what the card game needed. It has 5 magic/trap card slots,5 monster card slots, and an extra slot that slides out for field magic cards. The duel disk doesn't project holograms like on the show but it is probable the closest thing to it. The 2 sides of the duel disk come together by pulling a button. It is so neat! If you have cases over your cards then they won't fit in the slots but it is still a good collecters item. P.S. Don't buy the Japan one!
