4.0 out of 5 stars Ian needs Liana with him.
My 3 year old loves these barbies. She has carried them to our families' houses since Christmas and only plays with them together. She has the boy doll from the movie dance with Liana and puts their hands together and holds them there to make them dance (at least they are far apart) and they are always "talking" to each other. The guitar in the picture is not real...

I purchased this doll online as a Christmas present for my daughter. She doesn't really care about the story, but wanted to have a prince for her princesses. However, her favorite quality of this particular prince is his guitar. I figured that it was a great choice, especially since the description states that the doll, "features Ian's gem guitar." So I was expecting something more than very thin cardboard, attached to the packaging, with no real way for it to be held or played with by the doll. Now I'm not sure if I should still give it to her and risk possible tears on Christmas morning when she discovers the guitar was basically a scam, or try to talk her into choosing a different prince to accompany her princesses and return this one. I'm very disappointed that I should even have to be making this choice. Shame on Mattel for marketing it in this manner when it would have cost so little to have done it right!

She has the boy doll from the movie dance with Liana and puts their hands together and holds them there to make them dance (at least they are far apart) and they are always "talking" to each other. The guitar in the picture is not real. Just cardboard. It would have been nice to have a real guitar. His pants are made of cheap nylon that stop at the boots. Still like it. Works well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plane Ken, January 6, 2009

I got it for my 4yr. old daughter this Christmas. He completed the Diamond Castle Group but that didnt mean that he was really needed. My daughter wasnt really impressed by him or his paper guitar. My advice is that only if you are a die hard fan of Ken and really need him for your collection, you might be better off without it. Save yourself some money.

I bought this toy almost four years ago and within in a year the neck split across the base which caused the doll's head to become severed. She walked in the room with a sad face and cried out, "Mom, look at his head!" My daughter treats her dolls like gold, so, I know it wasn't due to her. She has over 50 dolls and they are all in tack and looks almost as neat and pretty as the day I bought them, but this one must have had a slight tear in the softer plastic area of the base that might have spread when she was moving his head (that's my theory). Mattel dolls are meant to last a lifetime and even when children don't treat their dolls delicately I don't see their heads tearing off unless the child intentionally cuts or forcefully rips the head off.

This Ian doll happens to be the most handsome of all the Barbie suitors. He has stunning blue eyes and looks great, without hard glued hair and what not.
Excellent version of a doll . My daughter's favorite in her vast collection!!!!!!!!

My niece wanted anything that's "Diamond Castle Barbie" theme so this is definitely a big hit for x'mas. The doll is good and durable but the guitar is just made by paper - a bit disappointed.

I got this for Christmas for my great-grandaughter, she has lots of other Barbie dolls but no Ken, this was the only one I could fine at that time, but she was delighted with it and plays with it almost every day.

Is this particular doll the one with the curly parted hair in the front, or the one with the hair swept back? I know both dolls pictured have molded plastic hair, but I would prefer to purchase the one with the hair swept back... more versatility when repainting/recreating (as I am an artist).

My grandaughter is 5 and wants Ian and Jeremy along with Alexa and Liana for Christmas. I am sure she will be thrilled! The one thing that bothers me about this doll is the guitar is made of cardboard. Not much use, will be destroyed the first time she plays with it.Othser than that I think the doll is wonderful. I loved Barbie and Ken when I was a little girl.
