5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Doll
Alexa doll has the prettiest singing voice out of the two barbies. Her dress sinches in the back to create a dark blue skirt. Unlike the Liana doll, her legs are normal barbie legs and is a normal barbie. Heart glitters when she sings, also when you push an extra button on her back. To make her sing, press her hand. 2.0 out of 5 stars Way too expensive
The going price is $250 and not worth the money. I guess if you collect Barbies and want it sitting on a shelf untouched then that is fine. Honestly, it is a rip off to purchase as a toy for a child at this price.

She is by far the prettiest in looks and sining, dress is removable, and has more "special touches" than Liana.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Barbie product, September 9, 2008

I got both Princess Liana and Alexa for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Both of my girls ages 3 & 5 1/2 fight over Alexa. Her dress is beutiful and easy to change looks. The songs she sings are beautiful as well. She sings together with the Liana doll, very neat. Her dress comes off, which Liana's does not and it was quite upsetting to my daughter. One thing I really like about it is that her necklace is permanately attached, not one more thing to lose. Note, she does not come with the prince pictured.

Actually my 4 year old and her 20 month old both sister have the matching dolls. It's a singing Barbie... Only thing I will say is from the parenting standpoint.. Don't take thme in the car for a long trip unless you want to poke your eyeballs out. Their singing gets downright awful after 80 times in a row : ) Otherwise they are both greatly enjoying their singing princesses.

I got one of these, along with the Aliana, for three of my girls for Christmas. They range in age from 4 to 9. They have all enjoyed playing with the two, having them sing the songs from the movie very much. It is one of the few toys that has gotten lasting play time more than a day past Christmas. My only warning to parents might be that the dolls do sing quite loudly. When I can, I like to send the girls downstairs to play.

All my daughter wanted for Christmas was an Liana and Alexa doll. Of course that's what she got. Maybe I had too high expectations for these two dolls.

Alexa is great, no flaws and I think is all around prettier. Liana, not so much.

Also, it said that the sing together. All it is if you push the button at the same time, they "sing together". However, whenever I start them both singing at the same time, Liana always ends up being way far ahead in the end than Alexa. So I have to start Alexa seconds after Liana to get them to end together but in the mean time the "harmony" they are supposed to have is not there when they aren't singing together.

I bought this doll for my two year old daughter. She loves it. She carries it around the house making her sing over and over and over. I can't believe that I don't find it annoying, but it's a good song. We also have Liana and they sing together.

My daughter loves this doll, but be prepared to hear her singing in the middle of the night. It is incredible how loud this doll can get when the house is quiet.

I got this doll for my niece. She already had the Liana doll and I was so excited when I found that Alexa and Liana sing a duet when played together. She absolutely loves the dolls! She sings along with them all the time. I would recommend this Barbie to any little girl that loves singing and music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Alexa is a better doll than Liana in the Diamond Castle Series, November 29, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mattel Barbie the Diamond Castle Princess Alexa Doll (Toy)
The Barbie & The Diamond Castle (B&DC) Princess Alexa doll is the same height and proportion as the 90's 00's era dolls. Not too many complaints about this one--see my review on Liana for the alternate review.

First, Alexa has a dress transforming pull on the back. It does not hide well, but it is part of the dress and not of the doll, so I feel it's not as bad as the Liana twist knob. The issue with this however, is that it does not hide the transformed diamond dress very well. If this is important, you may need to sew on a few more pieces of pink glittery velcro on the front side to keep the seam from showing.

Lianna has flesh toned legs underneath her dress. These bend at the knees and are quite pose-able.

Another neat thing with this Barbie is that her skin tone is darker complected than her Liana counterpart. She does appear to have more makeup on than the Liana doll, but my daughter enjoys it more than the Liana (that her sister has) because it matches her skin tone and hair color.

As with all Barbies, the shoes do not stay on. I have contemplated either super gluing them on the feet or removing them so my daughters don't lose them.

Another issue with the B&DC dolls is their accessories are few--this one has shoes, a crown, and a brush. Many less expensive Barbies come with more stuff. And all of these items are small, losable, and possibly a choking hazard.

Now for a critique on her "singing ability." It's nice to hear the first time, but the two songs very quickly lose their appeal, even if it's a former American Idol singing (McPhee). The Liana doll does do a nice duet with the Alexa doll, but again, it's a quickly fading novelty, and gets worse when you do not push the sing buttons at exactly the same time, or if the two songs are mismatched. !!IMPORTANT FIX!! If your Liana doll does not sing two complete songs when you take her out of the box and pull the tab out of her back, try this before you take it back--1) Find a thin piece of metal: paperclip, cake tester, needle, etc 2) Insert it into the hole in the back 3) pushing slightly in a downward motion skim the floor of the hole 4) About halfway in, the metal should catch the switch 5) pry this in an upward fashion (it will stay that way) 6) Remove metal tool from doll and press sing button 7) Assuming the batteries are not dead, the doll will sing again. I checked all over the internet for a fix, but none were to be found, including the mattel website. Cheers!
