Mattel Barbie Forever Tawny 10-Inch Horse

This horse was an amazing gift to my 6 yr old daughter who LOVES horses AND barbie so it was a homerun gift for sure!

Got it home out of package, put the batteries in it, worked literally for all of 20-30 seconds before making a loud crazy clicking sound inside. NO force or drops or anything, in fact nobody was even touching it, it walked a bit stopped, fell over and started clicking loudly.

Called the number on the box for service at Mattel, spoke to a guy who said "oh yes item J9488, hum your the 3rd call today I have had on this item" (and it was only noon when I called) so I guess others are having trouble too.

They don't have the horse in stock to send a replacement, so their solution was to send a check for $28 that is of course AFTER we mail the broken item back to them at Mattel.

Spent a good 30 mins driving around today, walmart target and toys r us are out of stock, so now I have a 6 yr old who wants this horse, mattel has none to offer (wonder why) and I can't find one to even swap it out with.

Not sure if we got a bum horse OR like the phone rep and other reviews here state, we might just have a bum product.

Try explaining that to a 6 yr old though.

I wish the fool that designed this toy could see my daughter crying. We got it, and it quickly became her favorite thing in the world. But, the horse's tail hair, which is long and beautiful, is positioned right next to the joints for the rear legs. Within a day, the tail hair got caught in the joints. The hair was sucked into the machinery and jammed it completly. So, after only one day of play, this horse no longer moves. It just makes a horrible clicking sound (which is very difficult to hear over the tears of my daughter.)

I read the other reviews and I must add that my daughters has no problem whatsoever. As it walks is clippty clops and that is what my daughter really found cool. It doesn't work so well on thick carpet. Upstairs in my daughter's room her carpet is not really think or shaggy so the horse does walk. She puts her barbie on it and away Tawny goes. She even attached that Princess and the Pauper carriage to it and it walked with the carriage!!! She loves it and your daughter will too.

I was worried after reading the reviews about the Tawny horse here online to go for it and order the horse for my daughter's 4th birthday. I am so glad I did. It is the cutest thing I ever saw and would recommend it to anyone who has a daughter that loves horses and barbies. This horse is fabulous and I only wish they had this when I was little. I had no problems with the horse. It does not walk on carpet but it says that all over the box. It will be the hit and I recommend buying the the barbie with stable that goes with it. It has all the accessories to groom the horse. Perfect!

I still have this same horse when it first came out and it still works to this day. This Horse is a great Christmas or Birthday Present to a Horse Lover! I never had a problem with the first generation of this horse. If they are sold out in stores try ebay for barbie or the horse. A++++

My niece loves this horse. It does make some noise. The horse takes 3 steps and stops and neighs. It also won't walk on carpet.

It even walks on our berber carpet! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it tends to walk to the right instead of straight. My daughter doesn't seem to mind so we'll keep it. Barbie rides well on it, too! Overall, I'd say it's a wonderful toy and I would recommend it.

Before I bought this I had read several reviews about it being unsteady and prone to breaking. My 5-year daughter has played with for several months and it has worked so much better than I expected. It will carry a Barbie over the uneven floors of our house without a problem until comes to a threshold. It has fallen over many times now and continues to function great.

We bought this for our three year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. The horse walks very well on flat surfaces. On short carpet, it also works, but might make a few extra noises at it attempts to adjust to the surface. When going from a flat surface to carpet, it might fall over. The whinnies and neighs are very realistic. Overall, we're very pleased with this item.

My daughter was disappointed in this because you can only use it on the floors with out carpet. Unfortunately, the areas where she plays are mostly carpeted so it is not as fun as we had hoped.
