Mattel Barbie Mermaid Falls Playset

After a few days of listening to my daughter on how wonderful this would be, I decided to buy it for her. The main problem is the slide does not stay on-- not even for a short amount of time, so that is a complete waste. The suction cups do not stick well to the tile surrounding our tub, but it does stick to the tub itself wonderfully. (Though this makes for an incredibly low toy so you can't use many of the features as they are underwater.)

My daughter LOVES the little pink mermaid that came with, which is the redeeming feature, but she is disappointed in the rest of it. I won't be buying anything like this again-- it really is a waste of money... just buy the mermaids for your little girl, the rest is junk.

My 4 year old daugher got this for her birthday b/c she REALLY wanted it.
So here are the pro's:
*It's cute and made well.
*The colors are wonderful.
*Has two showers to shower your mermaid clean, of which one can be on the swing and the other has 3 little flowers that move on the wall when water comes down.
*Most of it is put together for you, so no guessing on where things go.
*it comes with a "mini little mermaid" (much smaller than the bigger mermaids you can buy seperately for $15.00) so you can play with it right away.

Here are the cons:
*Like the other reviewer, the slide comes off constantly and it drives me nuts, b/c I'm the one having to put it back on all the time. I know it hasn't lasted a whole bathtime in place. (We've had it for 3 weeks now)
*The swing comes off easily, but not as often as the slide.
*You are given 3 LARGE suctions, two of which seem to work all the time with the other one, not so much. We have a fiberglass tub, so we've had to manuver at times to find the place it works best.

So overall, if I had bought this for my dauther, I would had payed the orignal price of $16.00, but not the insane price of $45.00+. (She could get a TON more toys for that price.)

I have read the other reviews and had to leave a review, as my daughter received this for her 4 year birthday about 3 months ago. I have to say I wasn't too excited to see another toy in the bathtub, as it is getting overcrowded with them in there. However, this toy is the best by far we have ever had in the bath! First, it uses a set of 3 large suction cups to stick to the wall. Suction cups will ONLY stick to smooth glazed tile....which we have the standard white 4x4 tiles in our bath - so this sticks well. Literally it has been up there since I put it on 3 months ago, and has not come down. If you have pretty porous actual stone like tiles- no this will not stick. No suction cups will stick to rough porous tile, so to the other reviewer- it is probably your tile- as you said it stuck to the bathtub. Now lets get to the fun! My 4 year old & 6 year old boy both like this toy ( my son doesn't want to admit it), but it has 2 pumps that pump water from the little reservoirs and spray down....and they actually work surprisingly well. I have never had much luck with the pump toys in the tub - but this one actually has a nice little spray. The slide is cute too- but the kids really love the sprays and pumps. I recommend getting one of the Barbie Mermaid Dolls as well. we have one- and doesn't' get water stuck in her- so no mold;)
Since we got this toy - my daughter wants to pay an additional 20 minutes in the tub...which is my time to relax;) Overall - surprisingly FUN toy!

We just got this playset for our 4 year old and she loves it. There are three different water activities and a pretty decent slide (works great with tiny rubber duckies too!) that entertain her for the whole bath. We also use it as part of our "Fairytopia" world on dry ground. For me, it's well worth the $16. It comes with a mermaid that is very practical and she loves it. It fits everything in the playset. Unfortunately, I also purchased the full-size mermaid that is sold seperately but looks like it fits great in the swing. It doesn't. The mermaid sold seperately but marketed as a companion to this piece falls out easily of the swing and gets caught on the slide since her tail is a soft plastic. The swing is also very unstable and falls off it's supports. We stopped even using it. Overall, this is just pure fun for us. I would buy this again and would give it as a gift.

We bought this toy for our daughter's fourth birthday. She and her sister were so excited. Well, we couldn't get the slide to snap in - we tried several times and various ways. Finally, we duct taped it on because the girls wanted to play with it so badly. The chair doesn't hold a full size Barbie mermaid like in the picture. The chair holders just fall off, and it is tilted such that a full size doll falls out. Finally, the suction cups didn't work on our tile. It fell off the wall 4 times within 10 minutes. We gave up on it at that point.

This toy was a waste of our money and time.

The toy was pretty and appealing to my three-year old daughter's eye, and that's as far as the positives go.

When playing with the toy dry, a Barbie can sit in the swing. Once the toy is attached to a bathtub wall, the Barbie can no longer sit in the swing, but always falls out. What's worse is that once you place water into the toy, the weight of the water causes it to slip down the wall and fall into the water! I had to constantly hold the toy up for my daughter to play with it. There is also a shower pump which requires a certain amount of pressure to move, pressure which causes the whole toy to slip down into the water again!

In addition, the toy is flimsy. The swing easily comes apart from it's little hooks, and a flower easily comes off.

Could Mattel have really tested this piece of junk? It's a rip-off and we're taking the toy back to the store!

The swing and the slide came off immediately. There is no support for the slide. Therefore, it's poorly designed. We'll try the other reviewer's suggestions using rubber bands for the swing, and hot glue the slide. Clearly, none of these Mattle toys were field tested prior to production. If it was, the results were ignored. Poor poor construction & design.

I almost did not buy this set because of previous reviews, I'm glad I went ahead and got it anyways.
People need to read instructions! The slide NEVER falls if you attach it the right way!! At the top of the slide you can notice that there is a little bend; it needs to snap into the playset. That's it, simple.

The set is so cute and seems to hold well. It has these 3 big suctions but only two are really holding the toy in our case.

My 4 year old is having a blast and it's tough to get her out of the bath!

This toy was a waste of money and a disappointment for my daughter. It would not stay together, and the suction cups would not stay stuck to the wall of the tub. We tossed it into the junk heap where it belongs!

I can't get the slide to stay on! I'm going to have to duct tape it. It's so very cute, but the slide coming off all the time is ridiculous!
