5.0 out of 5 stars love it!
We got this toy for my sons who are 5 & 4 years old. They played w/ this for the bett part of the christmas morning & all of the afternoon. It was easy to set up. My husband did it in about 10 minutes. It'study and am surprised that the tracks don't come undone. The only thing I don't like it's that the motor that propels the cars is a bit loud.

This set comes with a Lightning McQueen, but when you open the box you realize it's actually a plastic version of him. However, when trying out the toy, you realize the plastic version of the car is the one you need. Why? Because the other cars that are normally made of metal don't work as well in the track. They are too heavy to complete the entire loop! RPM, Dinoco King, Lightning McQueen, all can do the vertical loop, but then stop at the end, just short of the accelerator. Chick Hicks, well, he doesn't even complete the vertical loop.

The car accelerator is pretty loud and is partially exposed. Little fingers might get a case of rubber burn if caught by the very fast spinning wheels. So I would not recommend for 4 y/o.

I think this one is going back to the store...

We got this toy for my son's birthday. We've now had it for four days and today both my husband and I agreed that as soon as he's not looking we are going to hide it and eventually dispose of it.
Here are the things I don't like about it:
1. The noise! It's terrible.
2. It used three C batteries in less than half an hour and now it'd done with the next set of three and even though I have another pack of batteries, I'm not putting anymore in. I'd done with this toy.
3. This toy is designed for a cat, not a child. When I buy a toy for my son, I'd like to see something more than just his eyes darting from left to right following the little car and I'm sitting here watching my son and the cat watching this car and their level of activity is exactly the same.
4. When assembled this thing takes up a lot of room.
I honestly can't think of anything I like about this toy. It's a pretty expensive piece of junk, really. Sorry, but I wish we hadn't opened it and I wish it came with a receipt, so that we could exchange it for something else. It's sad that someone wasted their money on this.
I only gave it one star because 0 was not an option (I gave it two stars for durability because it's plastic and might have lasted for a while if I cared to keep it long enough to find out).

My 5 y/o son received this toy for Christmas (a few days early.) He absolutly loves it but I can tell that this won't last long. It only does one thing, & needs no interaction from the user except turning it on. After 5 minutes of the sound, I am ready for it to be put away also. Overall, just too boring.

I usually check reviews for these toys before buying, but not this one. Bought it spur of the moment and really regret it! NUMBER ONE, it eats batteries like nothing I've seen before. And C batteries at that. In a matter of 10-20 minutes 3 C batteries start to die. Nowhere on the outer package does it mention C batteries, that is a special surprise you get only after opening the box. Second, as others have mentioned, the car included is very lightweight. The other Cars cars, if they make it all the way around the track at all (due to their weight) it is only in the first few minutes of play with brand new batteries. After that they drop off on the loop. Third, I never could figure out how to fold it all the way, only half-way, so it takes up a lot of useless space..always. And it IS very loud. Which would be semi-acceptable if not for all of the other problems with it! This toy brings frustration, disappointment and mini-tantrums from my son, not fun. I s-o-o-o regret this purchase. Don't waste your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with metal cars, May 8, 2010

I am very disappointed with this toy. It comes with one very cheap plastic car that it works fine with, but it does not work with the regular metal cars, so you can't race multiple cars at once or use different cars in it. It is very noisy, which we did expect. It is definately not worth the $35 we paid for it, and we will be returning it immediately. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!

3.0 out of 5 stars I was not thinking...., December 28, 2009

I was not thinking when I bought this for my 3 year old. Two things I find kind of irritating:

1). The noise...the bloody noise!! Like the other reviewers, after 5 minutes I'm ready to shut it down.

2). The outside box does not say which types of cars works for this, so we were trying several different cars. We tried so many differnet types, and found that those that weigh less do the best.

The ability for this toy to retain the childs attention is simply just not there, but my son loves Lightning McQueen, and it is Xmas, so why not......

-P.

2.0 out of 5 stars So far not the greatest, December 25, 2009

Well, we've only been playing with this thing for about 20 minutes, but some of the latches are already showing wear. The materials and design aren't the greatest either, the bottom part of the "loop" comes up off the ground and doesn't latch very well. The 'slow' setting is as far as you'll want to go, the 'fast' setting causes the car to launch out of the track altogether. It also doesn't look anything like the picture on the box, the colors are muted and they just give you some lame-o stickers to jazz it up. Not thinking ahead I didn't realize it's impossible to tell which other cars you can use with this thing because most of them you can't use.
