4.0 out of 5 stars She is beautiful but the outfits are frustrating!
My 5 year old daughter received this doll for her b-day. I have been very frustrated with how the outfits snap off easily and the wings don't stay on very well. Sometimes I can't even figure out how to keep the skirt on, let alone my 5 year old! Her leg decorations (whatever it is called on her calves) don't stay on at all. 2.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Frustrating!
My 3 1/2 year old HAD to have this doll and does enjoy it somewhat. But she is so often frustrated by the wings falling off, skirt falling off and the shoes(?) that NEVER stay on. And I'm constantly frustrated by having to help her put the clothes on. This might be a Barbie for an older girl who can manage the clothes herself, but I even have a time getting them on...

And I'm constantly frustrated by having to help her put the clothes on. This might be a Barbie for an older girl who can manage the clothes herself, but I even have a time getting them on and getting them to stay! Also, the hair feels rather greasy. My daughter likes that the doll glows - but it just looks weird to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very Different Barbie..., July 14, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crystal Fairytopia Barbie Doll (Toy)
This Doll is not like your average Barbie doll. For starters Her Face mold is very different and actually very beautiful! Her Body is not made of rubber but actually out of heavy plastic, this may be a good/bad thing depending on who you are buying the doll for. This means you cannot bend her legs at all.

The doll's midsection and thighs are transparent with silver stars drawn on it; you can clearly see all the electrical wires on the inside that are used to light the doll up. The doll lights up in red and blue; her Stomach lights up blue and her legs light up in red, this lasts for about 20 seconds. The hair is very, VERY crunchy; a huge amount of gel went into her hair which makes brushing it a bit of a challenge.

The doll has those dreadful snap on fashions that can easily break. The pink outfit the doll is dressed in, comes off way too easily and doesn't stay on for long. It actually got to a point that I had to take off the pink outfit and put on the bronzy second outfit just so that the doll would have some clothes on. The wings are designed to be taken off or put back on which is also a good thing, especially for children who may want a fairy one min and a regular Barbie the next. Speaking of children this doll has a few pieces that can break easily and get lost far too quick. Although the box says 3+ it may be better for those 5 and over,at 17.99 a 5yr old may be able to appreciate it a bit more. If your pink outfit doesn't stay on, you can probably do what I did. Turn the pink skirt upside down and place it on the dolls head like a funky sort of crown. It may sound a bit silly but it actually looks like it is part of the doll. lol

Despite the few annoyances that exist, this doll is the most unique and creative doll out of the whole Fairytopia bunch! A total must have for any Fairytopia lover!

Let me start by saying that my daughter and I LOVE Barbie and Fairytopia. However, this doll is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased for either of my children. The wings fall off with the slightest touch. The ridiculous snap on outfits snap off independently and will not "snap" on again. The wires that run through the dolls body look like veins and are actually scary! After two minutes of holding her, my daughter burst into tears because her skirt, shoes and wings wouldn't stay on. What a terrible waste of money. I've already returned it to the store.

I have 3 daughters ages 5, 7 & 7. I love Barbies and always have so naturally, my girls have lots of them. Probably too many. Nevertheless, Barbie's these days are such junk-their hair is a mess after just a few hours of play, their clothes fall apart, their lipstick and eyes rub off in no time at all. These dolls in particular are only 3 weeks old. We have the blue and the pink one. The pink one, Crystal, well, her right hand snapped right off like a toothpick. My poor kid was devastated. I tried to use superglue, gorilla glue, tape, etc. and nothing held it on. She's just torn up about it. THEN! To make matters worse, my other daughter comes upstairs with Jewelia crying her eyes out because her foot just snapped off! Couldn't glue that on either! I'm just to the point where it's become "crystal" clear that Mattel doesn't give a rip about quality anymore AND HAVEN'T MORE SOME TIME NOw! I say a few of us moms get together and start our own "better Barbie doll" line and show these corporate ungrateful people that we don't want their junk in our homes anymore. I'm tired of spening $20+ to only set my girls up for disappointment!! Anyone interested in joining me?

3.0 out of 5 stars I hate when I buy without looking at the reviews!!!!!, November 5, 2006
This review is from: Crystal Fairytopia Barbie Doll (Toy)
My [...] year old daughter took her b-day money to the store and picked this doll out. She looked beautiful in the box and the glowing is just great, but everything you read is pretty much true. There is no way to keep that pink skirt on. As an adult I can not put this doll down and pick her back up without having to replace the front part of the skirt. Looking at it closely I think I can permanetly sew it together through existing holes in the plastic pieces.(But then it would be on the doll permanently) The yellow skirt does not seem to have the same problem and it does "snap" and fit tighter to itself. The plastic seems thicker and less flexible. The tops do snap on and stay. I can see how diffrent dolls might have different problems if it has anything to do with quality control or the plastic manufacturing. The leg pieces are okay I guess...they are typical Barbie shoes...meaning they fall off easily. There is also still a danger the peices will get stepped on and just snap in two.
Unfortunately, there is no way the wings are going to stay attached. My daughter has been back twice since I started writing this.

Update...doll was stepped on when all of the cousins were over and the foot snapped off at ankle. Shoes have been stepped on and broken also.

Hi - I agree with an earlier review, the doll is very pretty, and my daughter loves how it lights up, but the clothing that comes with her does not stay on well. One of the "bras", that is a hard plastic and is supposed to snap on, snapped in 1/2 when trying to get it on the doll! My daughter ended up ditching the wings and outfits, and put a gown on her!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty but not durable, June 14, 2006

My 5 year old daughter loves this doll for one reason it lights up. She could care less if the dolls clothes pop off since half her dolls wind up half naked with missing shoes anyways.

However, if your child likes the clothes find another doll. This dolls clothes WILL NOT stay on, they constantly pop off. The wings are the exact same way! It is like if you get the wings to stay on her top pops off and vice versa. I think the Elina Barbie with the light up wings is a much better buy as she too lights up, he clothes stay on, and her wings do not fall off.

THis doll is beautiful. I love the decorative ideas they put into this doll.. I got mine on clearece so I am not that disappointed. If I paid more I may be more upset.
BUT the "skirts" and wings do not stay on well at all. ESPECIALLY Skirt. :(. the skirt is something I think most young kids would not be able to put on themselves.
My daughter still enjoys playing with her so it is not a total waste. I am planning on gueing the wings into place. the first time I have ever glued a toy. I really do not see why the wings have to be detachable :). I like the idea another posted about using hair elastics to keep the skirt on.
Personally I like the idea of buying more uniquely barbies. I can see Fairytopia barbies becoming our favorite ones inthis house!

I bought this doll for my grandaughter and she too was frustrated that the wings fell off all the time and the shoes didn't stay on, so I super glued the wings and shoes to the doll now she loves it and takes it everywhere with her. She even sleeps with it. She now wants Jewelia the other doll that goes with this one.
