Please do not get me wrong. if you are one the leave dolls in their boxes. SHE IS A BEAUTY. But i bought her to debox. it is horrible. her legs are about an inch longer than a normal doll so regular clothes DO NOT fit her. Her waist is molded in a permenant arch so she can NEVER STAND STRAIGHT. if you would like to pics of this doll next to a regular barbie please email me at tummiluvsdollies@yahoo.com

Ever-warped body,

My daughter wanted this rather expensive Barbie primarily because it said on the back "Ever-flex body" and showed the doll with the waist bent. She and I assumed that Ever-flex meant flexible. Given the bizarre angle shown, it never occured to us that anyone would sell a doll locked permanently in such a strange stance.
We would not have purchased this doll, even at half the price, if their packaging had been honest. 'Ever-flex' means that the waist will never, never flex. It's locked that way forever. On the other hand, my daughter likes the clothes, and maybe she'll have fun with the karaoke machine. This might be worth buying once it goes on sale, but keep in mind that you'll be stuck with a permanently weird-looking doll that will never stand or sit straight. If the makers of this doll believe that there's a market for that, then they should have been honest about it on the packaging.

BARBIE DOESNOT CHANGE POSES,

This review is from: Barbie: American Idol Barbie (Toy)
I purchased this barbie today for my 4 and 5 year old girls. little did we know, the dolls pose doesnot change so she remains in the curved position and no where on the box does it state that the does position can be changed like you can on a normal barbie, and her legs are held together with elastic and they are quite longer than the average barbie doll. My daughters were very unhappy. And also I think it is terrible that the karaoke machine only plays one song.

Why would parents want their 3 to 10 years old (more like 3 to 7, really) singing the lyric "I'm not that innocent!" (lyric from the song Barbie sings)? I don't want my daughter walking around singing that!

This Barbie is revolting. I cannot understand why an american idol barbie sings Britney Spears songs when there are plenty of songs by the former American Idol winner that she could sing. No way would I want my 8 year old daughter to relate this doll to how a girl is supposed to be.

This doll comes with lots of tiny accessories, which is part of it's appeal for little girls ... but also contains some "messages" I would just as soon have left on the store shelf. Her impossibly proportioned torso is permanently contorted in severe scoliosis, leaving her stuck in her "rock star pose" and unsuited for any other play. Moreover, when I watch my daughter mimic her stance and sing along with the music ("I'm not so innocent!") I cringe. Due to her "deformity", she's really hard to dress ... so you know who gets stuck with it.

Ever-flex Body, But Not Bendable Torso,
A Kid's Review

I was very excited about getting my American Idol Barbie doll. She looked like a lot of fun, and after I got her, I realized that this doll was a lot of fun. You could make her dance and sing. But I soon realized that her torso was fixed at a bent shape. Knowing that her body was supposed to be bendable, I tried to straighten out her waist. After a short while, I came to the conclusion that she would not bend. I found that this was weird because, sure this position was alright for singing and dancing, but what if you just wanted to play with her? I think this should definately be changed. I have a countless number of Barbie dolls and I say this is not the way it should be.

HORRIBLE Song, But Nice Doll,

For the record, I'm 28, female, and a fashion doll collector. I have this one, and Tori of the American/Australian Idol dolls. I like the dolls a lot, even though they can't straighten up. I love the body sculpt, and hope Mattel makes another set of playline dolls with this sculpt, but not bent at so extreme an angle. My rating is for THE DOLL ONLY.
As for the song, YUKK!!! I don't know why her machine came with such a terrible song from such a BAD example to little girls. I agree with the person who said they don't want kids to sing the song. The song is in VERY, VERY poor taste.

Nice Doll, Just Different,

After reading the rest of the reviews in here, I have to say mine is not that negative. I'm an older collector and received this doll as a gift. While it's true it is bent in the position at the waist, it still fits into most of the Fashion Fever outfits. I like the fact that it's different and the karoke machine with cd's is kind of fun, I do wish they had more than one song on it, though. The hair on it is pretty good and I like the brown put in through the blonde. As for the face, I think it's very pretty. The white go-go boots that come with it are retro-great.
