Surprising Flaw, so simple to fix, and yet....;,

This review is from: Disney Princess DVD Game (Toy)
My five year old daughter had this high on her list and was tremendously excited to get it. The cost of the game is inflated by the unneccessary remote control included (and which you have to take time to set up) but it functioned well. So did the game which has cute questions that range enough in difficulty to even engage adults. However, on successive plays we noted that the questions on the dvd come up in the same order, starting from the beginning each time. There is no shuffle or randomization of the questions. (In Scene It, for example, you encounter some of this sometime, but not to this degree). So each time you play, question one through whatever will be the same and in the same order.
There is no telling how many questions are on the disk (nothing reports that) but since it could be thousands, would it have been too much to ask Disney to build in a way to view different questions? The only option you have is to play each and skip each of the 20 -30 questions you went through in the game you played the first time and then use quesitons 30 - 50. Then the next game you could take another 20 minutes to individually forward through the first 50 questions to get a new set. (Imagine playing solitare and having the same set of cards come up in the same order each time. Quickly boring. I plan on tryting to return the set, though my daughter is engaged by its beauty and the princess clips and questions (however, even she found the problem exasperating). You struck out on this one, Disney, even though you had it all going for you to start. Sad.

My little girl loved this game! We didn't have any problems with the remote at all--I don't know what the other user was talking about. I am planning on buying another game to give to my nieces for Christmas. I give this two thumbs up.

We went through the 10 minute remote control programming process twice. Just couldn't get it to work. One really disappointed little girl is left to push the princesses around on the board. The grandmother who gave us the game really wishes she had chosen a dress-up trunk, or something else.

My 4 year old received this for Christmas, and had a great time playing it. The game is geared to young girls, probably most appropriate for ages 3-5. It's simple to play, the game moves along quickly, and the remote control is easy to program. I found it for under $20 before Christmas. Even though I like it, it's not worth the $30 I've seen charged. Too simplistic for that price.

You would be better served buying a board game as this is merely a dvd which cycles the same questions in the same order each time. There are no separate levels, as with many other computer games, and the game pieces are cheap.
The only educational value that I can afford this game is possibly "memory" and maybe the "sharing" of the remote. Other than that it is a very tedious task calibrating the remote and I would honestly not recommend this game at all. This is simply a one hit wonder. If your child is begging for this toy, as was mine, you should redirect them to another.

I got this for our daughter, this is perfect for 5-6 year olds with the ability to use a (included) remote, it's fun. I had read reviews that the questions are repeated and kids get bored, I have not found that to be a problem, keeps my child well entertained.

I was a little shocked to read the other reviews for this product. My daughters age 4 and 6 1/2 love this game. It is by far one of their favorites. I compare it to a Jr. version of Sceneit. It teaches sharing as the girls each get their own turn with the remote. It teaches problem solving skills as they have to pay close attention to the clip in order to answer the questions. Give me a break on the review about it being demeaning to girls or whatever because the clips at the end show the princesses kissing their princes- the images given at the end for the bonus "winner" clip are all taken from the Princess movies. If you don't like the princess films and what they are about then why would you even buy this product to begin with?

A perfect game for a four year old princess!
A great way for them to learn about all of the princesses and a ton of fun for them to play with their friends!

This is a cute game, but my 3 daughters are all slightly frustrated with it. My 8 yr old is BORED, because she knows all the answers. My 6 yr old knows a lot, but the singing challenges are waaaaaaay too hard. My 4 yr old knows a few, but again, the singing challenges are too hard, and don't leave enough time to guess the answer before revealing the answer. Also, the rest of the challenges go too slow, which you'd think it would be the opposite way around. A cute game, but not worth the money.

Sends the wrong message,
This review is from: Disney Princess DVD Game (Toy)
My daughter received this as a present. This game sends the wrong message to young girls. First of all, every question focuses on Disney-specific trivia, so it's not educational. But the worst part is that the "Reward Video" is a montage of princesses kissing their princes. I don't want my daughter to think that being a woman means being rescued by a man. There are so many other toys out there that are designed to send positive messages to young girls, such as exploring your talents, becoming self-sufficient and using your imagination. Skip this one.
