Bought this for my 5 year old Justice Leaguer. My son is not a rough player but we went through 4 (YES, FOUR) of them before we finally got one where the elevator didn't break in the 1st 2 weeks. Mattel needs to get their act together and design toys that have durability. VERY disappointing!

Based on most of the previous reviews I was worried I would not be pleased with the Watchtower. However, after receiving and assembling it I was very happy with its quality. It is a complicated toy with many fun features. As with most complicated toys it has many parts that could be easily broken if mishandled. I think this toy would be more appropriate for kids on the upper end of the recommended age group.

There has been many complaints that the toy tips over easily. There must have been a redsign because we have not experienced this problem.

The best feature of the Watchtower is the single lever that casues the tower to unfold in a single operation. The second best is the elevator. A rotation knob causes the elevator to move up the tower. A lever causes the elevator to drop in one swift motion. A cautionary note, the directions (a small picture) do not make it clear that the elevator does not desend by the same knob that makes it go up. A forced effort on that knob could break the mechanism. A few words in the operating directions could have corrected this.

The other features of the Tower are a trap, small spaceship, projectile firing guns, lights and sounds.

Any young fan of the Justice League will appreciate how much the toy matches the Tower in the TV series.

The original price of the toy was quite expensive but you get your moneys worth for how complex and heavy it is.

It's a good thing most of the Justice Leaguers can fly, because the elevator on our Watchtower broke in the first 20 minutes after Superman got jammed in it. While I was able to rescue the Man of Steel, the elevator string bound in the gears and broke. There's no way of repairing it without taking apart the entire center column, which is not something I was likely to try, given the number of widget, gadgets, and springs on that part. I also found the center column and elevator mechanism difficult to assemble. The directions could have had more words and fewer pictures, as well. (Do they assume that the parents are illiterate?)

I agree with the reviewer who said that Mattel needs to work on the quality of the toy.

I purchased this for my son who is a huge Justice League fan. He gets discouraged because it is always falling apart. I hate it, because I am always putting it back together. I would not recommend anyone buying this toy unless you want to keep putting it together.

First off -- no offense -- but if this toy takes you "several hours" to assemble... Well, I'll be nice. My son and I *love* the Watchtower. He has no problem placing his Justice League figures (this is a "Justice League" playset, after all) in the elevator, in the little spaceship, and on the landing platform. There's a booby-trap on the ramp to catch bad guys, plus fun lights & sounds, and (of course) missiles to fire at evil villains. My three year old closes and opens the Watchtower by himself -- which I thought might prove tricky for him. It's fun to see the playset folded shut, because it looks like the one on the cartoon. Along with the Javelin 7 spaceship, this is an awesome toy for kids of all ages ;-).

We bought this for our 5 year old for Christmas. The elevator uses a string pulley which promptly bound around the gear that connects it to the thumbwheel which raises and lowers the platform. Within 5 minutes of playing, one of the main features broke. Also, the top has a ring with 5 rockets, one of these came missing a retaining pin. Thoroughly disappoingting as he is a big Justice League fan.

My boys played with this toy constantly for a week after their birthday and still play with it every day. Their friends were more impressed with their Bat Cave but there are more things to do with the Watch Tower. I read the reviews about the legs falling off so I taped them on with packaging tape. The truth is the thing stands up fine without them. They are only decoration and the tape holds them in place without difficulty. With all the things that open and close and rockets that shoot and sirens that blare my boys are kept plenty busy. They love it and it was on sale! What a great deal!

This is a huge disappointment for my family, and has forever left a stain on the memory of my son's recent birthday. This piece of garbage cannot, does not, and will not stand up. And it does not stay together. And the elevator breaks easily. And some of the figures don't fit in the elevator.

So there it lies, in pieces, in the corner. And here I lie, curled in a ball in the other corner, wondering if I am an inadequate father because I can't make a $40 piece of crap stand up.

I hope whoever designed this goes back to creating torture devices.

The tower was a little difficult to get together and keep together. The three "legs" seem to make it more wobbly instead of keeping it stable. The sections that fold out won't stay locked and closed when you want them to. Beware of the tower toppling over at times. A plus: the elevator is cool and works great as well as the sound effects.

My 3 year old son is OBSESSED with Justice League! Needless to say he HAD to have the watchtower! I too had read the bad reviews and ended up getting it here on Amazon! Yes the three legs don't stay on but after a week of putting them back on a hundred times a day I got out the superglue to secure them on and I have not had a single problem since! Granted you don't want to have to superglue a toy that should work on it's own but if your kid loves JL just buy some glue too!
