I originally bought this for my son as a birthday present, but decided to give it to him today as a reward for being good during a long day of shopping. I am very glad I didn't save it for his birthday. First and foremost, Lightning McQueen doesn't come with this playset! You have to have a spare Lightning on hand for your child to be able to play. I'm not sure how Mattel thought they were getting away with selling a playset touted as "Lightning McQueen's action-packed home on wheels," without actually including a car for a child to play with.
Secondly, the "amenities" are seriously lacking. The "7 play features" are simply levers that move in different directions.
That said, Mack himself is well-done and is a nice size for little hands. It's not a huge toy, which doesn't make it a burden to store.
I, however, would not buy this toy again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

This a great addition to the Cars theme. My 2 1/2 yr old has most of the cars, and this was a great add on. Its cute that it has so many different things for McQueen to do inside his trailer.
My only complaint is that its not made from the best plastic. Its a lil flimsy and feels kinda cheap. Luckily its hasn't broken yet, except for a small piece that popped back on. I guess I was expecting more since all the cars are made from metal. Even "Mack" is made from the same plastic.
Overall its still great for lil fingers and their imagination.

UPDATE: 2yrs later and my son is still playing with Mack. We have lost a few of the parts, but that hasn't stopped him from playing with him. He love his Mack truck, and takes him out whenever he plays with his other "Cars". Again the material isn't the best, but it's lasted this long, and he's been happy playing with him. This is something I would buy again, but probably see if their is a better quality truck out there.

I got this truck for my two year old and he loves it. I was just surprised by how small it was. Our neighbor has the exact same truck with the exact same features but a much larger model. I didn't pay attention to the size dimensions because it looked exactely alike. My bad! I thought I was geting a deal at $20, but now I know the $40 truck is much bigger.

My two year old loves everything about Cars, and Mack is by far the greatest addition to his collection. He got it about 2 months ago, and he still plays with it for hours every day (which says a lot since he has tons of toys). We just gave one to his friend for his 4th birthday, and the friend just told us that it's his favorite toy, as well.

The inside of the cab is designed as Lightning's apartment, complete with lots of little tiny parts that are loosely attached (his toothbrush, hose for his water bottle, etc). This is not a toy for "very active" children who are in a destruction phase or for those with babies nearby because the little pieces do pop off and could become choking hazards. Our pieces have easily popped back on, though.

My 3 yr. old son absolutely loves this truck. He plays with it daily. There are lots small parts so if you have a "mouther" be careful.

My son (2 and 1/2 years old) got this as a gift and was super excited to play with it. It looks great but the truck has a lot of little pieces that pop off and and can be reattached if they are not lost. The truck is REALLY hard to open and all the pieces have to be tucked in the right way to close. I find it hard myself to open. It is poorly designed. My son would have enjoyed a much simpler version of this truck. Perhaps an older child would find this toy less frustrating. I also wish they made it more durable like the cars.

My 3-year old took this to show'n'tell at his school and was pretty-much mobbed by the other kids. He played with it for 3 hours straight the day that he got it; there's so many cool things inside. Refrigerator, TV/video console, tire-changing, car-wash, and on and on and on. The 2 downsides to this are 1) the pieces inside are very flimsy and come off very easily. They're easily put back together, but also easily lost! 2) it's really hard to open/close. My son had a couple of nasty pinches while learning how to close.
Having said that, I would not let it deter you from buying this toy. We're getting one for 2 of my son's friends this christmas, that's how much we love it in our house!.

I bought this truck for my son's 4th birthday. He really enjoys it. It's very cute inside with a car wash, T.V.,video game, fridge and more. The only bad things are- its a little hard to open and it doesnt come with the race car.All in all its a really cute toy.

Our son just received this toy for his 5th birthday and it is his absolute favorite birthday present. He is obsessed with it and can't wait to return from other necessary activities to play with Mack some more.

On the plus side, our son hasn't had any trouble opening the toy up or uncoupling the two parts and since he already had a Lightning McQueen he wasted no time loading him inside.

On the negative side, the play zones inside the truck are not very intuitive--my husband and I had to examine both the box and instructions carefully to discern what the stuff inside "does" (which truth be told isn't much) and then try to explain the functions to our son. One of the biggest problems we've had is that our boy has tried to put other Cars characters and/or more than one car at a time inside the truck and close it up. This has already cause some damage to the fairly fragile interior.

The construction of the truck does seem fairly cheap and my husband and I were both disappointed that Mack's cab was not diecast to match the quality of the other Pixar cars. As much as our son is playing with this toy, we'll be surprised if it lasts the 3 months until Christmas.

It's a cute turck that has a lot of kid appeal, but it loses points for poor durability. I'm not looking forward to the day it ruined beyond repair--it will be a heartbreaker.

We bought this toy for my son this past Christmas. He was thrilled and started playing with it immediately! I noticed that the sides of the truck were very flimsy, but didn't think anything of it until I tried to close it up and "lock" it. That's when the plastic "lock" broke. I was going to take it back for an exchange, but after looking at the way the plastic is made, I realized that others would probably break as well. My son still thinks it's a fun toy, but I am very disappointed that it is not constructed well. My son cannot close it and carry it around as the "lock" does not work and the sides of the truck will not stay closed.
