I was so excited to get this for my daughter, but it wound up being a flop. She asked me to give it to another little girl. :(

- The floatie is nearly impossible to blow up. I tried, and my husband finally managed to get it about a third blown up.

- The doll is too tall to float upright in most tubs unless your child takes VERY deep baths.

- The doll doesn't float upright even if you fill the tub way, way up!

- Once wet, you can see all the roots of the hair and it is very creepy looking.

- The mermaid tail fills with water while she is in the tub. I guess that's supposed to add weight so that she floats properly, but it doesn't work, and it's just a great way to create mold IMO.

- Flounder is supposed to be a squirty but I found him nearly impossible to squeeze. His plastic is too hard for him to be able to squeeze and squirt water.

- Ariel doesn't bend to sit down. I don't know why, as her body is jointed at the waist, but you can't bend her to sit down.

BOO to Disney for this craptastic toy.

The only pro is that the doll is very pretty. Also this doll is quite heavy compared to some dolls.

I caved and gave her this early because she doesn't have many bath toys and wasn't wanting to hop in the tub today when it came, so I let her open it early. Her face lit up when she saw it (she LOVES the Little Mermaid), and she immediately stripped and got ready for her bath. Despite reading the negative review on here and almost not buying this, the price dropped so low during the sale and my daughter did want this a lot so I figured it was worth it even with those negatives. Granted the doll doesn't stay straight up, but what doll really does? Her hair changes color in the water, her floatie helps her float (and I didn't have any problems at all with blowing it up all the way, maybe the other reviewer got a defective one?). Also no problems with water getting in her tail. Even after full immersion, her tail remained hollow. I don't see the problems with the doll getting moldy, but I frequently wash my daughter's bath toys in hot, soapy water, so as long as the water stays out of the tail it should be fine. I'm glad I bought this doll, and at $14.99 she was totally worth it. I don't think I'd pay much more than that, though.

This is the best Ariel doll and bath toy. My 3 year old has no trouble squirting Flounder. Everything works as it should. The hair changes color in both warm and cold water. The hair is also good quality and never gets tangled. The body drains of water easily and fast after a bath. This Ariel is also very age appropriate for toddlers. She has a little girl body, not a Barbie body, and is also easy to handle. My little girl absolutely loves her, takes her everywhere and sleeps with her. And she doesn't normally even play with dolls.

I bought this toy for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. SHe likes it because its a new bath toy, but the floatie will not blow up and theres only a couple strands of hair that changes color. It is durable and my girls love ariel. I got it for $24.99 at Walmart, I think its worth probably maybe $15.99 and thats about all.

Even after reading some of the negative reviews, I bought this for my three year old. She absolutely loves it. We take it to the pool several times a week. The floaty was a bit hard to blow up, but doable. And the tail does fill with water. If you read the directions, it is supposed to. That is what helps her float. The only negative is that Flounder is hard to fill and squirt--my daughter couldn't do it, but she sure got a kick out of me sqirting her and Ariel with it.

I can't get this doll to float upright in the bath. She keeps tipping over no matter how much I adjust the inner tube. It has been nothing but frustrating.

This the ONLY thing my 3-yo asked santa for this past Christmas. So when she opened it up, she was elated and wanted to take a bath immediately. Well, she agreed to wait until evening and try it out. Ariel is very cute and fits in her floaty well, but does not float upright. We have a large jacuzzi tub we tried it out in and it still didn't float right. My daughter was a little disappointed at that but she still loves it and plays with it despite that. We decided to just have ariel lay on the floaty like she is "relaxing" on a floaty in the pool, hehe.

My 4 year old begged for this doll for months, but she finally got her! My little girl loves this doll and thinks she's the most amazing bath toy out there. That's really all that matters to me, because Ariel keeps her entertained!

As far as item description goes, the quality did not match up to what was advertised. Our Ariel does not have color-changing hair with cold OR hot water. Ariel's tail fills up with water, so you have to make sure she's propped up after bathtime so it can drain (who wants mildew?). Your child must take a deep bath, or Ariel won't be able to float upright. You have to blow the floating device up as much as you can..... otherwise, Ariel tips forward. Flounder is difficult to squeeze.

I don't know, I'm happy that my daughter is so thrilled with this toy, but it just isn't as advertised.

This Christmas morning my daughter was so excited to open the package ... but this was a total flop. The hair didn't change color (even with ice water) the flouder toy didn't skirt water, the inflatable ring wouldn't blow up. Do toy manufacturers even do usability testing with children?

I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas and she loves it. She carries it around everywhere. It was just what she wanted.
