I am completely in awe of this doll. I have never played with, collected, or even noticed a Barbie doll until I saw this one. I purchased her originally for my daughters collection of African American Barbie dolls. But after 2 weeks, I decided to open her and keep her for myself. Now, I have a new hobby and possibly career. I love her skin tone, her hair, eyes, her endless dark chocolate legs, everything about her. As an African American woman I was just so happy to see such a beautiful doll with hair like my own, short and curly. A few Barbies with flocked hair do exist, as I have learned since purchasing this doll, and I hope they continue to design more of them.

My husband got this doll for me and I too thought they could have done better with the make up. I also know that mattel has made some nice black dolls as a collector for over 18 years I have a large selection of black dolls.
We have to remember we come in all different colors and we also don't all look a like. In saying that I know I would always prefer to have our dolls look beautiful because we are beautiful. Let her represent a positive thing instead of a negative thing.
I will keep her in my collection I might even change her eye make up but I will never think she is ugly.

This Doll Is Beautiful Her Color Is to die for her long chocolate legs are eye catching all the black basic barbie's are Standouts and the lil Black Dresses are heavenly! Love these Dolls!!!

This looks like the wonderful Goddess of Africa face sculpt usually used on unaffordable collector Barbies by Bob Mackie and Byron Lars. Unfortunately, the face paint especially the eyes is so bad that I find this doll unbuyable even though I really want a Goddess of Africa with a short afro. The eyes need to be repainted and if you have no confidence to OOAK a Barbie even if it only means coloring in the eyes with a brown magic marker, then this doll is not for you.

I saw this same doll in the toy store,I still have the same opinion. This doll is just plain ugly! There are better dolls on the market that are designed prettier! The make-up is over done, plus the hair look nappy! Being "Black" is not ugly but beautiful and a doll should reflect this concept especially if its given to a small child to play with. Young girls should be given pretty things to play with not images of dolls that don't reflect culture beauty at its best.
