4.0 out of 5 stars My 7 year old daughter loves it...
She says it is "so cool!" They get to pretend to cook with Remy. She took Remy and got out a kitchen bowl and started adding pretend food and Remy was sniffing it....it was so cute. We have had it for 2 weeks now, works great. Just be sure to turn off after use to save battery, b/c he will keep talking. You also have to turn the button underneath off from "demo", to...

3.0 out of 5 stars I love it for myself, but others be wary.
Being an adult, I love my kiddie toys. I like having this toy on my desk at work. It makes me smile to turn it on and watch it move once in a while. The animatronics on it are great for the price. Lots of movement. But seeing how this toy is geared towards someone many years younger than I, I must caution giving this as a gift to a younger child. The toy is hard, heavy,...

The toy is hard, heavy, and not at all cuddle-able. I should also mention that it is loud when activated (I'm guessing that was done in order to cover up the sound of the moving mechanical parts). It has a few delicate parts, such as the arms and ears, that may easily become damaged if banged into. I have not tested this myself nor will I do so. Why would I want to attempt to break my own toy to see how durable it is? I'm sure they may be some "safety" mechanical features that keeps this toy from breaking easily. There aren't any real interactive features to this product that the advertisements may make you think. The only thing it does is respond to something that is moved close to its nose and mouth. How many times can someone make it respond to something that simple before they get over that feature? Less than 10 I suspect. Don't expect this to keep any child entertained for more than 5 minutes. It works great for myself because I love the character and I love having it dance for me on my desk when I need a pick me up.

You also have to turn the button underneath off from "demo", to regular so he will go through ALL the phrases. The only thing that I will say about disliking it...we paid [...] for it at another store, and I don't know if it's really worth more than that unless your child loved the movie as much as mine!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for the kitchen, January 5, 2008
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mattel Ratatouille Little Chef Remy (Toy)
My kids and I loved the movie and positively adore Remy, plus we enjoy cooking and baking together, so I thought Little Chef Remy would make a fun addition to our kitchen.

Remy's main feature is that he "smells" and comments on anything put underneath his nose. He "dances" and plays joyful cooking music too. My husband and I find Remy to be quite hilarious actually, and it's nice to have him around whenever we need a good laugh. You never know how he will react to each "ingredient" he smells and he certainly "knows" what he doesn't like. My kids love it when he says "eeeeewwwww, that is gross!"

I agree with one of the previous reviewers that Remy should definiately not be considered a toy for children to have. Even if he were, he'd end up collecting dust in a corner somewhere after only a few minutes of "smelling" various objects the kids could find. By keeping Remy in the kitchen, he's ready to be enjoyed by us and any adult or child that comes for a visit. He sure does look cute sitting on the counter by the stove too!

As for the price, I purchased Remy over the holidays for a significant Amazon discount. I personally don't think he's worth paying full price for, but if you find him on sale, he's a fun addition to your kitchen!

I'm an adult who loves cartoons. "Ratatouille" has become my most favorite, saw it three times in the theater and pre-ordered it here at Amazon as soon as it was available. I think this toy came up in the "Today's Deals" under toys over a month ago and I was intrigued enough to check it out. I decided to order it for myself for Christmas(what's Christmas without a toy?)and am SO happy I did. I've had so much fun playing with this, and he's going to have a special place on the counter as soon as my kitchen re-model is done. In fact, I've enjoyed it so much, I ordered two more when he went on sale briefly after Christmas! I do wish it had better instructions, but it was easy enough to figure out the different switch positions. If you like interactive toys, this little rat is a lot of fun!

For the price I got it for, it was so worth it. (I can't say I'd be willing to pay the full 29.99, but I'm a cheapskate.) The ears wiggle, the nose sniffs, the eyes blink and he talks and dances. It's the cutest thing ever! -If you loved the movie, you'll be so amused. He is more of an entertainment-type toy than an educational one, but it has encouraged my 3 year-old to cook in her pretend kitchen more often. He's a great little addition to our household.

From the picture of this, I thought it was going to be very small and was shocked to find out its about a foot long.
It says 4 different things, which get boring pretty fast.
An ok toy for toddlers, but not much else.

I originaly missed out on this one when it was available at Amazon, and at store level, so, so happy I came across this on Ebay, actually bought 4, yes I know I went a little gaga over this, I loved the movie, have it on DVD, as well as the movie on my Iphone, and the soundtrack, the reason I bought 4, 2 for me, and the other 2 for my 4yr, and 2yr old girls who were fighting over this and demanded to play with the one I have set up on my kitchen counter permanently, I have an open floor plan and see Remy constantly, yay, plus they loved the movie, and love Remy, I also have the Ratatouille plush set, sitting on my chef shelves, no I am not a chef, but Remy for sure is my inspiration, I also have the talking Ratatouille figure set, sitting on top of my cabinets in my kitchen, My house is s french design, and I have decorated the inside french as well, as I am obsessed with Paris, another reason to love the movie, also love Disney's other 2 french based movies, of Beauty and the Beast, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, hope Disney puts out yet another french themed movie, now onto the toy/doll, it is absolutely fantastic, amazing, and very animated, his ears wiggle, blinking eyes, wiggling nose, arms move, body movies, makes stirring motion with the plastic spoon that comes with this, he says over 25 phrases, which I must add actually sound like Remy from the movie, and plays 2 types of music, of which he dances to, his upper body also moves with the arms moving as well, there are 3 types of mode at the bottom, one is off mode, second is you can only squeeze his nose to activate him, the third mode, you can squeeze his nose to activate him, or put something under his nose/in front of his mouth, to make him wiggle/sniff/smell his nose and activate him that way, now to address some wining reviews, someone complained that his size was decieving, the description clearly says he is 12 inches!!, another review decided to give this product a 1 star, becasue they had not yet recieved it yet, really thasts how someone reviewed this! others were complaining that this isnt for little ones, well look folks at what your getting, the last complant from other reviewers were mentioning his educational value, well it makes you think of what to cook, and what to add to the cooking, so there is thinking and raasoning involved here people, I do agree that this is on the solid, heavier, delicate side, due to its features, and should not be dropped, and for sure this does not dissapoint in any way, but surpases my expectations, bonjor

Remy is adorable! He talks, he walks, he wiggles his ears and nose!!
I thought this toy would be much smaller than its actual size! Fun to leave on a table to see how many adults squeeze his nose!
