Mattel DC Universe Classics Wonder Woman Figure

Hello All,

I have enjoyed the entire line of figures produced by Mattel for the DC Universe. Whereas the figures produced by DC Direct are clearly made for display, the toys from Mattel are made for playing. This is evident by the many points of articulation on all of the figures in this series. Compare it to the DC Direct toys in which the characters are limited to one or two poses.

I gave this character a slightly higher rating for education value than I have for other action figures. Wonder Woman is an important fictional character. While not the first female super hero she is the best known. It is important for children to learn that women and girls can save the day, too.

This particular toy comes with a cool Amazonian axe and shield. Accessories are always cool. Like the other female characters from Mattel (Big Barda, Harley Quinn, etc.) the hands are a bit too small, making it difficult to get the figure to actually hold on to her axe. The shield locks firmly to the character's forearm.

There is a base that comes with the figure. It was intended to act as the base for the big figure, but it works just fine for Wonder Woman if you don't want to purchase the other figures in this series.

Finally, I am pleased that this Wonder Woman is not cursed with an absurd anatomy. Wonder Woman has to be able to run after bad guys. An absurd bossom would hinder crimefighting.

This figure of the very imposing character of Wonder Woman is an adequate buy. Its a durability is questionable as well as the paint apps. Where this figure really grabs you is its fair amount of poseability which to my knowledge is probably the first of its kind excluding probably an old MEGO doll. I was also impressed with her head and hair sculpt; quality you don't usually see in a mass market toy. Her accessories are juvenile at best and would have been better suited with some other types of accessories like spears and javelines as she is an amazon but again its a "kid's toy". Its a fairly solid buy but only if you plan on building your own justice league with the previous released heroes.
