My 4 yr old son got this for his birthday. It was easy to set up, and he loved playing with it. Unfortunately, it was broken within 24 hours - after about 2 hours of play time. It was not abused, and the only car that was used was the one that came with the package. Save your money and get only the un-motorized Hot Wheels sets.

My son bought this with his birthday money this year. He was given the Deluxe Dropshot Tower as a birthday present and wanted to expand his city. He is 7 and I'm glad he's found something he's interested besides Star Wars and Video Games.
I really recommend buying at least one other set with this so you can connect tracks together. I don't mind buying the other sets because my son gets creative in how they all connect. It hasn't broken yet for us and it's been a few months. Definately buy at least one other track set if you buy this one. Check out the new Dinosaur Trick Track sets, too.

We got this for my 3-year-old for Christmas and he, my 6-year-old, and my husband and I have had a great time playing with it...I think we've played with it every day for a month now. It's held up great. We mix around the cars we use, and set up the track along with pieces of other toys...we find endless variations for it!

Santa brought this for my four year old son this Christmas. My son has two other Hot-wheels car sets so he is used to playing with them. This one however has a duo of deficiencies that kill the whole deal.
The set is unnecessarily complicated and its somewhat delicate. As for the complicated part it will require an adult to assemble. As you assemble it you get the sense that it isn't going to be very durable. Once assembled it's a sort of flashy Rube Goldberg contraption that requires three different cars to complete the effect (only one is included in the box) as depicted on the box. As for the delicate part, after trying literally half a dozen cars on the "Power Loop" portion of the track we had only one completely successful launch from end to end. The cars would fall out of the loop after just two or three revolutions. My son has mostly lost interest in the toy after just three days because it's so frustrating to use. My review would be a lot more forgiving if the track worked with a greater variety of cars. Out of all of the cars my son has we could only find three or four that would work even remotely well with this set. And then even with those cars it would complete the entire process about two out of ten times. I do think older children would find this more enjoyable however, as another reviewer mentioned you'd probably want to buy an add on piece to make it more worth while. But overall I wouldn't even start the process with this series of tracks. Also, considering the entire set is made of plastic I didn't notice any of the pieces marked for recycling. So when this set does meet its demise its not easy to recycle the parts.

Very dissapointing...cars never loop but fall off of track,

This set was a very dissapointing purchase. What is the point of having a looping motorized track if the cars always fall off? We used the car that was provided with the set and new batteries and the car maybe had one successful loop. It never made it far enough to the final "launch". This xmas present for my son has barely been played with because it is not satisfying. I will definately be returning this toy to the store I purchased it from.

My 5 yr old absolutely loves this. He plays with it all the time. He said, "Mom this is the best track I've ever had in my whole entire life!!!" We can't wait to get some of the extension parts. I only gave it 4 because assembly is not easy. The directions stinks. We had to watch some videos on YouTube to get the jist of how it really should go. Once you FINALLY get it together right, it's a really fun toy. I'm really glad we got it.

Truthfully, I've grown very weary of Hot Wheels tracks....over the years my mom and I have bought several and they always end up being a disappointment. Thankfully, this one was one my 8 year old was able to assemble himself and it seemed to work pretty good. Most of them, however, are not interchangeable and only some cars will work on them, so overall, hot wheels tracks are a pain. This one wasn't as expensive as some and seemed to do pretty good overall.

Our cars would not go around the loop no matter how many times we tried. It was flimsy and the tracks easily detached. My four year old son was not pleased and I was unimpressed. We ended up throwing it away after one week of frustration.

We've had this toy for about a year now and have managed to get it to actually work perhaps twice. And it isn't any sort of operator error. I am a design engineer by day and am 100% positive that it is correctly assembled. Even with brand new batteries cars most often simply fall of the track - usually before getting around the loop once. We tried the car that came with the set as well as all the several dozen cars we already owned. There are evidently huge variations between sets because one of his little friends has one that works virtually all the time, and with many different cars. Because he sees his friends work right from time to time, he insists on breaking his out and trying it again, then asks me to "make it work". Way worse than useless.

Unfortunately the cars don't loop around very much and usually fall out, so my 4.5 year old isn't very happy with it and I am less than impressed. If it wasn't part of a big package of hotwheels stuff I would return it. I think it's very lame because it doesn't work well. Two thumbs down.
