I bought this toy for my 4-yr old nephew. He loved it! He needed a bit of help figuring out how the mechanism to load the cars worked, but once he understood the steps to load the car, raise it to the platform and release the lever to launch it, he had a lot of fun and was occupied for a while. The lights and sounds also made it exciting for him. There's really no assembly required -- just put the track onto the base -- and because there aren't small detachable parts, the toy is pretty safe. No batteries needed. Great gift and well worth the price!
