This review is from: Matter: Building Block of the Universe (Hardcover)
I buy books like this to ensure that my kids become educated. I guess I'm not sold on the idea that the school system is sufficient. I happened to purchase this book as I was looking for science books, and found this old book listed for next to nothing so I bought it. I have recently accumulated a number of science books & school text books aimed at children 8-12 years old. I must say that this particular book just strikes me as being really well done. I commend the author on a great book. It's got great illustrations, plenty of vocab words, main ideas are bolded. It has questions, study guides, and activities. I'm looking forward to reading this book myself to brush up/learn these things myself, and then working through it with my kids. It's getting to be a somewhat old book, but I don't think things have changed so much with respect to general properties of matter, physical and chemical changes, mixtures/elements/and compounds, atoms, classification of elements/periodic table. I'm going to look for more books by this author to buy inexpensively.
