5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing New Sound, May 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Matter of Physics (Audio CD)
I heard these guys locally(Chicago) at the Elbo room and Gunther Murphy's. Best new sound to come around in quite a while. Sound as though they've been together for years. Was surprised to find out that they are just starting out. Nice to see a band that sounds as good in person as they do on their album, the transition was seemless. Especially like Pretenious Yet Lame, expect big things from this song and these guys in the future. If they come to your area, be sure not to miss them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Album, May 17, 2002

Just recently purchased this cd and spun it up on my high-powered system. Mom came home and asked "Did we have an Earthquake while I was gone because all the pictures on the wall are crooked"? I slowly lifted my head revealing a toothy grin and replied "Carbonfour mother". THIS ALBUM WILL ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF! This band is very tight, has awesome tonal clarity and enough bass punch to throw anyone's paintings off the wall.
Sorry mom... hello Carbonfour ! <<Buy it while they last>>

I was given this CD from an old friend... and skippy does it rule! Pretentious Yet Lame rocks... but the rest is pretty good too. It's found a home in the Hoitai CD Changer Disc 5... I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Matter Of Physics, May 7, 2002

Strong sounds first and foremost. A friend took me down to Wicker Park my last time through Chicago to check out this new band playing out at one of the supposedly legendary venues. Their music is loud, the lyrics emotionally charged, and a band to back it all up.

The album is great, sort of a Chicago sound meets the UK. I know a few friends that have burned it from me have made comparisons to "The The".
"Fragrance" has so far been my most repeated track off the album, the writing is real, the guitars strong, and the bass/drums is all there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, driving and intense., May 29, 2002
This review is from: Matter of Physics (Audio CD)
Diverse and powerful, "a matter of physics" defines today's sound movement. Some tracks harken back to a 60s-esque overdrive while others have an almost soulful aura. Definitely worth a buy if you like original compositions and musicians not afraid to express themselves.
