Book Description

July 8, 2010
In the pre-Katrina world of south Louisiana, a high school girl and her mother are caught up in a violent act of retribution.

Callie Houston lives with her single-parent mom, Jeanne, in the small town of Hammond, La. She's a smart, impulsive young woman who figures she can handle almost anything. Suddenly her world is turned upside down when her mother is kidnapped by Tony Ryan, one of her mother's accounting business clients. The mobster is looking for papers incriminating him in an embezzlement scheme. Blood, pain, and violent death replace her sheltered world of books and nature.

Callie’s story is not only about how she survives her ordeal, but also how painful choices are part of growing up.

I just finished Callie Houston and congradulate the author (Lydia Frenzel) for a great story. It is well written and I enjoyed reading it on Kindle. I am recommending it to others and look forward to more stories from this author.

More About the Author

L.C. Frenzel is the name under which Lydia and Charles Frenzel write their stories about characters mostly taken from real life. Dr. Lydia Frenzel was born in Port Lavaca, Texas, in 1943. She is a scientist, an author, a Past District Governor for Rotary International, and is the current Executive Director of the Advisory Council, a non-profit organization which, among other things, helps to determine the standards by which ships, bridges, dams, and other parts of the world's infrastructure are built and maintained. Her projects range from restoring a piece hull recovered from the famous "Titanic" to research on compounds used to detect breast tumors.

Charles Frenzel was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1940. He is known for his many contributions to molecular research and materials science as well as his painting and writing. He recently published a book of his poetry as "Nuclear Gnat" and plans to add four other of his novels to his list of Kindle publications.

Together, the two of them have logged many years sailing the seas when they lived aboard their sailboat, "Lydia Ann". Their characters come from real life, from the swamps of Louisiana as well as the boardrooms of corporate America. In addition to their new series featuring Callie Houston, a young woman from south Louisiana, they are working on the 4th volume of their epic fantasy, Lunaria.
