5.0 out of 5 stars From Lancer to Matters of the Heart, April 28, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
James Stacy was always one of my favorite actors. I adored him
in the western series Lancer that aired in 1968 as Johnny Lancer (Madrid} a gun slinger. An unfortunate motorcycle accident occurred in his life on September 27, 1973. He took a different turn in "Matters of the Heart." He was a Vietnam veteran that losted his left arm and leg in the war and later worked in a hardware store with his brother. He forbidded his eighteen year old son to date a forty year old woman (Jane Seymour) that he loved. He did'nt want his son to be a musician, but to go into the family hardware business. She (Jane Seymour) encouraged him to become the successful piano player that he wanted to be. It is an excellent movie. I would recommend the movie to all of James Stacy's and Jane Seymour's fans. It is worth watching.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Jane, Mediocre Everything Else, June 7, 2001

Jane Seymour is the reason to watch this movie about love between an older woman and a younger man. She is preternaturally beautiful as usual and a great actress, but this is low-budget cheesy tearjerker stuff. Worth watching, but buy only if you are a huge Jane Seymour fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane Seymour will capture your heart!, December 30, 2004

I know that giving this melodramatic tearjerker a 5-star rating is very generous, but I can't help but love this movie! Jane Seymour, even with glasses and trying to look older, is stunningly beautiful in this tale of a doomed romance.

Christopher Gartin plays Steven Harper, an 18-year-old college student who feels a passion for piano playing. The problem is that in his small town there is no one who shares his passion, especially not his father who was crippled in the Vietnam War. Steven feels hopelessly lost...until he meets the world-reknowned pianist Hadley Norman (Jane Seymour), who happens to move into town.

At first, Hadley wants nothing to do with Steven, because she's a recluse and is busy working on writing a concerto. But when she hears his playing, she decides to become a "tutor" and help him become the great pianist he dreams of.

Over time, their passion for music becomes a passion for one another, and they begin a love affair that will change their lives forever. I won't give away any more, but I think this is truly one of Jane Seymour's best roles, and the great classical music throughout the film adds a lot. This isn't a masterpiece at all, but for Jane Seymour fans, it is a definite must!
